  • Publication number: 20070255842
Abstract: A calendar tool displays policies that are scheduled to function in managed networks. The tool allows the network administrator to select and view individual scheduled policies, many individual scheduled policies or scheduled policy suites. The calendar identifies the different scheduled policies as rectilinear colored blocks of time on a calendar. These blocks will open their properties forms when double selected. Overlaps of scheduled policies and gaps between scheduled policies can be identified visually on the calendar because they are displayed in two distinct blocks of color which are different from any other colored block displayed. The administrator/user can see all policies that contribute to an overlap by simply selecting on the particular overlap. The user can see calendar information either in a weekly or daily format.

  • Publication number: 20070130192
Abstract: A method for configuring an entity in a communications network through an operations support system interface (“OSSI”), comprising: establishing an object for the entity in the interface of a data processing system, the object having at least one attribute derived from a script template for the entity; receiving at least one parameter for the at least one attribute through the interface from an external system; populating the script template with the at least one parameter to generate a command script for performing a configuration task on the entity; sending the command script to the entity for execution; and, notifying the external system through the interface when an execution response from the entity is available and sending the execution response to the external system.

  • Publication number: 20050138557
Abstract: The advantages are derived from a cost-reduced managed entity configuration of various communications network equipment having diverse makes, models, and software releases. Expertise of highly trained analysts is employed in a time-efficient manner to write discrete parameterized configuration script templates for maximum re-use, thereby reducing the number of scripts that they are required to maintain and deploy with each update. Script execution dependencies and version information associated with script templates enable script dependency checking, script version control, and customization of scripts for target managed entity reducing exposure to errors in performing managed entity configuration tasks. Network management personnel with little or no command line interface configuration knowledge merely select and populate parameters for scripts required to perform required configuration tasks enhancing configuration management cost-effectiveness.
