  • Patent number: 7836695
Abstract: A solar energy system includes a plurality of concentrating dishes and a plurality of heated air collectors. Each collector receives directed rays of sunlight from one of the concentrating dishes. A heated air distribution assembly collects air heated in the collectors. A thermal storage assembly is operably connected to the heated air distribution assembly and has a plurality of thermal storage elements. A steam generator is operably connected to the heated air distribution assembly and the thermal storage assembly. A steam turbine is operably connected to the steam generator.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 2007
Date of Patent: November 23, 2010
Assignee: Solar and Environmental Technologies Corporation
Inventors: Samuel P. Lazzara, Ronald C. Derby, William P. Dampier, Stanley H. Zelinger

  • Patent number: 6367582
Abstract: A harness (20) for suspending a rescuer (500) by a line (502) includes an upright attachment (22) so that the rescuer may be suspended in a substantially upright position, an inverted attachment (40) so that the rescuer (500) may be suspended in a substantially inverted position, a seated attachment (46) so that the rescuer (500) may be suspended in a substantially seated position, and a back attachment (50), so that the rescuer (500) may be suspended in an angled forward facing position. Harness (20) also includes a longitudinally adjustable back strap (52) so that the suspension angle of rescuer (500) may be altered, and two spaced longitudinally adjustable front straps (76) which limit the degree to which the rescuer (500) can lean backward when in the seated position.

  • Patent number: 6367583
Abstract: A capture strap (20) for rescue harness (500) includes a strap (22) having a first metal connector (28) connected to one end and a second cooperating metal connector (30) connected to the opposite end. The first (28) and second (30) metal connectors may be removably connected together so that capture strap (20) may be locked around a person being rescued. Capture strap (20) has two spaced apart harness connectors (32) and (34) for removably connecting capture strap (20) to the rescue harness (500).

  • Patent number: 4232523
Abstract: The specification discloses a solar power plant which utilizes a sun-tracking parabolic collector and a plurality of energy storage and conversion devices, all of which are operated under the control of a novel energy management system. Allocation of energy to a particular storage component or to useful output is dependent upon the state of the system as well as the nature of the demand. Outputted energy may also be recaptured and reallocated to minimize losses. Efficiency at the component level is enhanced by the utilization of novel heat exchangers which effectuate complete conversion of the operating liquid to superheated gas.
