  • Patent number: 7676114
Abstract: A system for three-dimensional reconstruction of a surface profile of a surface of an object is provided that utilizes a binary pattern projected onto the surface of the object. A binary string consisting of a series of “1”s and “0”s is first created, and a binary pattern of light that is constructed in accordance with the binary string such that bright and dark bands of light of equal widths correspond to “1”s and “0”s from the binary string respectively is projected onto the surface. The binary pattern is shifted with respect to the surface multiple times, during which an image of the binary pattern illuminating the surface is obtained at each position of the binary pattern. Thereafter, a height of each predetermined point on the surface is calculated relative to a reference plane based upon the images cumulatively obtained at said predetermined point.

  • Publication number: 20090088876
Abstract: The present media player includes alternative indicators, other than a graphical user interface, to facilitate user control. In one embodiment the player includes an illuminable indicator comprising a plurality of LED's. The LED's are configured to illuminate and dim according to a variety of different illumination patterns to indicate, for example, an operational mode of the player. In some embodiments the player is configured to generate auditory signals to indicate to the user that it is tuned to a particular preset station. In some embodiments the player includes apparatus for tracking one or more user parameters, such as heart rate. In some embodiments the player may be configured with a play list matching a tempo profile of an exercise program. Several methods related to the player are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20090014566
Abstract: A paper shredding tool is disclosed as including a first pair of cutters partly abutting each other along a first cutting plane; a second pair of cutters adjacent to the first pair of cutters, the second pair of cutters partly abutting each other along a second cutting plane; a third pair of cutters partly abutting each other along a third cutting plane; and a fourth pair of cutters adjacent to the third pair of cutters, the fourth pair of cutters partly abutting each other along a fourth cutting plane; in which each pair of cutters are rotatable relative to each other to cut a piece of paper passing between the pair of cutters along their respective cutting plane; and the distance between the first cutting plane and the second cutting plane is different from the distance between the third cutting plane and the fourth cutting plane.

  • Patent number: 7455087
Abstract: An electric sharpener for writing instruments, e.g. an electric pencil sharpener, is disclosed as including an electric motor, a cutting blade which may be driven by the electric motor to rotate to cut an end of a pencil received within the sharpener, a circuit opening arrangement operatively associated with the motor in which the circuit opening arrangement is adapted, upon insertion of the pencil into the electric pencil sharpener by a pre-determined length, to open an electric circuit in the sharpener to cease operation of the electric motor, and an adjustment member operable to change the orientation of the circuit opening arrangement relative to a longitudinal axis of the electric sharpener to vary the pre-determined length.
