Abstract: A footwear reinforcement which comprises a toe cap portion having a curved end wall which curves rearwardly at the top into an upper wall and which curves on opposite sides into opposed side walls integral with the upper wall, a bottom wall integral with lower edges of the front and side walls. A series of longitudinally-spaced transversely-extending curved ribs extend from one side of the reinforcement to the other side behind the toe cap portion and are connected at their transversely opposite ends to a rearwardly extending portion of the bottom wall of the toe cap portion.

Abstract: A lamp assembly includes a housing, a lamp bulb carrier slidably mounted in the housing for reciprocating movement along the optical axis of the lamp bulb and an actuator mounted in the housing for annular movement about an axis substantially perpendicular to the optical axis of the lamp bulb. The actuator has an eccentric portion engaging the lamp bulb carrier to effect reciprocation of the lamp bulb carrier when the actuator is angularly moved, and a switch carried by the housing is connected to the lamp bulb and connectable to an electrical power supply. The actuator also has a cam which engages and actuates the switch over a predetermined range of annular movement of the actuator to cause the lamp to be illuminated while the lamp is reciprocated along its optical axis.

Abstract: A miner's safety helmet having a lamp mounted on the front thereof comprising inner and outer shells made of tough, hard plastic material having a generally hemispheric shape to conform with the upper part of the wearer's head, the shells being spaced apart, and closed around the rims thereof, to form an enclosed space therebetween, a slot-like opening at the front part of the rim of the helmet into the enclosed space, a visor of tranparent plastic material rectractably and telescopically mounted in the slot and having a doubly curved shape to conform with the shape of the enclosed space such that when the visor is in a fully retracted position it lies almost completely in the enclosed space and when in fully extended position it extends over the face of the wearer, an air supply connection at the rear of the helmet adapted for connection to a source of clean filtered air, switch means mounted in the helmet in the enclosed space in relation to the visor configuration, and electrical leads from the switch to t
