  • Publication number: 20100053665
Abstract: A method is disclosed. The method includes receiving a print file, removing images from the print file, replacing each image with a reference to the image, storing each image removed from the print file; and printing the print file. Each image is retrieved from storage to be printed upon encountering a reference to the image during printing of the print file.

  • Publication number: 20080084680
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for allowing a multi-drive tray (MDT) to be interchanged with a battery backup unit (BBU) tray within a disk enclosure blade (DEB) of a blade server. The DEB is implemented comprising a plurality of controller cards and a plurality of MDTs. One of the MDT slots within the DEB is configured to be interchanged with a BBU tray. The BBU tray is designed to include multiple BBUs and is configured to have packaging, mounting, and air flow characteristics that are similar to an MDT. In one embodiment, a controller card queries each MDT slot within the DEB and determines if any of the queried MDT slots contain a BBU tray. If a queried MDT slot contains a BBU tray, the controller card manages the queried MDT slot as a BBU slot. Otherwise, the controller card manages the queried MDT slot as an MDT slot.

  • Publication number: 20080037053
Abstract: A printer system and method of managing the printer system. Printer sub-systems can register indicating system parameter affecting or, affected by, each. The printer is monitored for change requests to system parameters and, printer sub-systems are selectively notified of a requested parameter changes. Notified printer sub-systems respond indicating a time to apply each parameter change. Unless changes can be applied immediately, a change notification is displayed, requesting operator intervention and indicating a time for the intervention.

  • Patent number: 6992785
Abstract: A data structure, document data stream, method and apparatus for identifying resources prior to printing. A print data stream structure is provided that can be specified at the beginning of a document or job, or on any page boundary in a document or job, and that identifies complex resources that are required by the pages that follow. This structure is processed by a print server, which uses the resource references to download any missing resources before printing of the following pages is started. Accordingly, print underruns are avoided by ensuring that complex resources are downloaded to the printer before the first page is initiated.

  • Patent number: 5727220
Abstract: A method and system for presenting a document at a presentation device utilizing a presentation data stream having a continuous ordered stream of uniquely identified data objects and associated elements which specify format and presentation parameters for each of those data objects. The data stream contains a plurality of documents, including a resource document and a presentation document, which each comprise a collection of the uniquely identified data objects and associated elements. A save object command structure is defined within a resource document within the presentation data stream. Within the save object command structure, a particular data object is identified. In response to receipt of the save object command structure at the presentation device, the particular data object is stored within storage media. Thereafter, an include saved object command structure is defined within a diverse presentation document within a presentation data stream.

  • Patent number: 5592683
Abstract: A printing system wherein pre-printing commands, print data, and post-printing commands are nested in a data stream, the commands bounding a group of print data pages in the data stream, the group of pages containing one or more page data blocks, and the commands defining one or more operations to be performed relative to the group of pages. Groups of pages are handled in accordance with the commands in the data stream, and the commands are buffered while a print processor processes the group of pages to form printed sheets therefrom.
