Patent number: 12264475Abstract: A method of laying one or more concrete topping slabs over an existing concrete structure includes providing a concrete form defining an area on a surface of the concrete structure, drilling a hole into the surface of the concrete structure within the area, the hole being closer to a first border of the concrete form than to a second border of the concrete form opposite the first border, attaching first and second slip-dowel receiving sheaths respectively to the first and second borders, securing a first end portion of a bent metal bar in the hole with a second end portion of the bent metal bar extending parallel to the surface and the slip-dowel receiving sheaths toward the second border, and pouring a concrete mixture over the surface of the concrete structure and about the first and second slip-dowel receiving sheaths and the second end portion of the bent metal bar.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2023Date of Patent: April 1, 2025Assignee: SHAW CRAFTSMEN CONCRETE, LLCInventors: Ronald D. Publication number: 20250065370Abstract: A base supports an inclined screen having a uniform mesh selected to remove larger aggregate from a first cement mixture to form a second cement mixture that passes through the screen. A powered vibrator vibrates the screen to separate the concrete mixtures and larger aggregate. Springs and/or dampers in support legs isolate the vibrating screen from the base. A guide frame on the top surface of the screen guides the first concrete mixture along the screen and guide the separated aggregate out a bottom opening into an aggregate container. A support frame on the bottom surface of the screen stiffens the screen to help support the weight of the concrete. A concrete container, preferably wheeled, is below the screen to collect the second concrete mixture and move it to its use location.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2024Publication date: February 27, 2025Inventor: Ronald D. Shaw

Patent number: 12188241Abstract: Systems and methods of shotcrete construction are contemplated whereby guide rails are placed in proximity and forward to a shotcrete receiving surface, with any guide rails disposed directly in front of the shotcrete receiving surface being configured to be offset from the receiving surface allowing shotcrete to be sprayed behind the offset guide rails. Following application of shotcrete, a screed configured to engage with and traverse along at least two of the guide rails may be used to rod the shotcrete via a protruding region of the screed extending beyond the guide rails, thereby removing excess shotcrete and imparting to the shotcrete surface a contour at least partially defined by the configuration of the guide rails and the configuration of the protruding region of the screed. Complex, precise, and even exotic architectural shotcrete installations may be created in this fashion by providing a suitable set of guide rails and screed.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2023Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: Shaw Craftsmen Concrete, LLCInventors: Ronald D. Publication number: 20240385332Abstract: A surveying system for a construction site has a restricted antenna system with a plurality of fixed location antennas each defined by a set of location data associated with a specific deployment position. The surveying system also has a computing device with a data processor and a display screen. A communications module establishes a data transfer link with the restricted antenna system over which spatial data for distances between current positions of the computing device and one or more of the plurality of fixed location antennas are received. The computing device is loadable with project drawings corresponding to the construction site and displayable on the display screen. A position marker is overlaid on the display of the project drawing at a position thereon corresponding to a computing device location value derived from the spatial data and the location data of one or more of the fixed location antennas.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2024Publication date: November 21, 2024Inventors: Jesse Gil, Ronald D. Shaw, Jeff Counterman

Patent number: 12115823Abstract: A suspension monitoring and adjustment system for an off-road vehicle includes a distance sensor arranged to measure shock displacement of a suspension of the vehicle. The system may include an output device configured to output shock displacement data generated by the distance sensor and a processor or programmable circuit operable to produce a visual representation of the shock displacement data output by the output device. The system may include a processor or programmable circuit operable to generate an adjustment signal based on shock displacement data generated by the distance sensor and a suspension adjuster arranged to adjust the suspension of the vehicle in response to the adjustment signal.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2023Date of Patent: October 15, 2024Inventors: Ronald D. Publication number: 20240308126Abstract: A concrete dowel placement system and methods for making the same. The system allows for accurate and easy substantially-parallel or parallel placement of slip dowels within sections of concrete so that adjacent sections of concrete may be allowed to undergo thermal expansion and contraction while remaining in a common plane without cracking or faulting. The system includes a coupler and a sheath. The sheath is configured to be slidably extensible over the coupler and may be held to the coupler by friction. An outer surface of the sheath may be textured. Additionally, a method of constructing the concrete dowel placement system includes extruding material to form two tubes of different sizes. The tubes are then attached to each other, then material is extruded or injection molded to form a sheath. Alternatively, construction may include extruding material to form a tube, then removing some of the material from the tube in order to form a coupler.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 10, 2024Publication date: September 19, 2024Inventor: Ronald D. Shaw

Publication number: 20240247494Abstract: A concrete wall has a back surface supported by a back panel while a decorative material is applied to an opposing front surface of the wall by hand or by pneumatic projection while the surface is still plastic, and without using bonding agents. The decorative material may be further exposed by a surface treatment before or after the front surface is floated and finished, with a sealant optionally applied thereafter. The front surface may be created by pneumatic methods or by pouring concrete into forms and removing the front panel to expose the front surface while it is still plastic but hydrated enough not to slump.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 2, 2024Publication date: July 25, 2024Inventors: Ronald D. Shaw, Jeff Counterman

Publication number: 20230349172Abstract: A method of forming an architectural concrete structure having a desired look (i.e., color) and texture, wherein the method generally includes pouring a base concrete layer using conventional concrete. A surface concrete mixture is prepared and includes a mixture of sand and small aggregates to give the surface concrete mixture the desired color and texture for the architectural concrete structure. The base concrete layer provides strength and durability to the concrete structure, while the surface concrete layer provides the desired look and texture of the concrete surface. The surface concrete mixture preferably includes small aggregates to create a smooth and uniform texture.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 3, 2023Publication date: November 2, 2023Inventor: Ronald D. Shaw
