  • Patent number: 6035598
Abstract: The present invention provides a system for attaching a panel to a building wall using an elongated channel. The panel has a main panel portion, a panel edge portion and a groove therebetween. The elongated channel has a body and a pair of rails. The body is attachable to the wall by a fastener. The pair of rails are integrally formed with the body, extending substantially perpendicularly from the body in the same direction. One, or both, of the rails ends in a flange that is contoured to engage the cavity formed by the groove when the panel edge portion is bent around the groove and toward the rail.

  • Patent number: 4452029
Abstract: A method for joining panel members into walls or dividers is provided which allow thermal expansion of the panel members to be absorbed by the joints. The panel construction includes turned down edges having grooves on the inside faces of the edges. Each edge is sized to fit side-by-side in a channel with the edge of an adjoining panel and with their grooves over ridges on the inner walls of the sides of the channel. An insert member having protrusions on its sides is wedged between the side-by-side edges for maintaining the grooves over the ridges while allowing pivotal movement of the edges around the ridges.

  • Patent number: 4283895
Abstract: A thermally improved expanded store front system is disclosed including vertical mullions and horizontal members. The vertical mullions comprise a structural mullion portion which is securely attached to the sill and head members and an exterior mullion half removably secured by anchor means to said structural mullion. The mullions when assembled are adapted to receive clip means which secure the horizontal members in place without the need for screws thereby allowing the members to expand and contract without undue stress. The vertical mullions and horizontal members, which are cut to predetermined lengths may be easily spliced for typical multi-story applications.

  • Patent number: 4217833
Abstract: An improved special purpose window for use in "drive-in" businesses such as restaurants, banks and the like is disclosed. The window is designed with a plurality of transaction areas thereby allowing easy access by the customer. In addition, the window reduces exterior air infiltration without interfering with the normal merchandise-money exchange between attendant and customer thereby significantly reducing the infiltration of carbon monoxide from the exterior of the building into the interior of the building.

  • Patent number: 4187657
Abstract: An improved design for both fixed and operating type windows is disclosed in which the window is thermally broken without the use of an insulating material as a thermal break. The improved windows of the present invention are designed so as to enable both fixed and operating types to be secured to the same frame member thus allowing for easy and architecturally pleasing unit stacking.

  • Patent number: 4141188
Abstract: A wall construction includes a framework of mullions supporting one or more glazing panels and the mullions comprise an elongated inside member having an outwardly facing outer wall with an inwardly extending portion offset from the center of the outside wall which is formed with a longitudinal recess in an outer face thereof. An elongated glazing element having an outer wall spaced outwardly of the outer wall of the inside member is provided to form one or more glazing pockets on laterally opposite sides of the mullion for receiving the edge portions of the glazing panels. The glazing element includes a tongue extending inwardly from the outer wall toward the recess in the inside vertical structural member. Fastening means is provided for securing the outside glazing element and the inside structural member together from the inside of the building and includes insulating spacer blocks seated in the recess and extending into a groove in the tongue of the glazing member with the sealed fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4030260
Abstract: A wall construction includes a plurality of panel members and joining elements therefor. The panel members are provided with spaced apart inside and outside face elements and edge members along opposite longitudinal sides for interconnection with adjacent panels or corner posts. Foamed in place insulating material is provided between the inside and outside face elements of the panels between the edge members. The outside face elements of the panels are formed by modular width members of weather resistant sheet material having a plurality of spaced apart longitudinal grooves in the outer surface. Tongue and groove means along longitudinal edges of the face elements are interfitted with tongue and groove means in the panel edge members in a manner forming a groove on the outside face of the panel similar and parallel to the grooves in the outside face elements. Edge members of the panels include an outside element, an inside element and a glazing pocket formed therebetween.
