Abstract: In some of these approaches, a first fingerprint of a first user is stored in a memory and the transmission of an activation code is authorized. Subsequently, the first fingerprint is re-sensed and authenticated and a second fingerprint of a second user is responsively sensed and stored. The activation code is transmitted to the moveable barrier operator upon subsequent authenticating of the second fingerprint. Subsequently, the second fingerprint is re-sensed and authenticated and a third fingerprint of a third user is responsively sensed and stored. The activation code is transmitted to the moveable barrier operator upon subsequent authenticating of the third fingerprint.

Abstract: An improved method and apparatus for administering drugs during an endoluminal procedure is disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention utilizes a catheter having distal and proximal ends and a drug reservoir located within the catheter to efficiently and accurately deliver drugs during an endoluminal procedure.

Abstract: An improved apparatus and method of producing acetic acid includes condensing overhead vapor to provide reflux to the light ends column as well as condensing vapor from a central portion of the light ends column to increase capacity. Throughput or load on the light ends column is substantially reduced without compromising product quality.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for the automatic recovery from errors encountered during an automated Licensed Internal Code (LIC) update on a storage controller. The present invention functions with a concurrent or nonconcurrent automated LIC update. The automated recovery from many error conditions is transparent to the attached host system and on-site service personnel, resulting in an improvement in the LIC update process.

Abstract: A system for performing a medical procedure and an introducer device suitable for use in the system. The system may be used, for example, to examine and/or to treat the uterus. According to one embodiment, the system includes an introducer, a morcellator, a flexible hysteroscope, and a fluid-containing syringe. The introducer is suitable for transcervical insertion into the uterus and includes a gun-shaped housing and a rigid sheath extending distally from the housing. The sheath is shaped to include an instrument lumen, a visualization lumen, and a pair of fluid lumens. The introducer also includes a first assembly within the housing for receiving the morcellator and for guiding the distal end of the morcellator into the instrument lumen and a second assembly within the housing for guiding the hysteroscope into the visualization channel. In addition, the introducer further includes an assembly for fluidly connecting the syringe to the fluid lumens.

Abstract: A method and device for tissue removal. The device may be used to remove uterine fibroids and other abnormal gynecological tissue. According to one embodiment, the device includes a housing, an outer tube, and an inner tube. The outer tube is fixed to the housing and includes a side window proximate to its distal end. The side window may have sloped proximal and distal ends. The inner tube has a distal end positioned within the outer tube, the distal end being adapted to rotate and, at the same time, to move back and forth past the side window, with the rotational and translational movement of the inner tube being independently controllable. The distal end of the inner tube may have an external bevel. Suction is applied to the proximal end of the inner tube to draw tissue into the side window and to remove resected tissue through the inner tube.

Abstract: In systems comprising at least two compressors, the present invention provides an adequately sized vessel or tank in either or both the suction line or the discharge line of multiple compressors, in such a fashion that if the conditions of the first compressor change, it does not have an immediate effect on the other compressors, the vessel acting as a means of dampening the change.

Abstract: A method for communicating control messages between a first device and a second device. The method includes a communication module that directs control messages between a first device and a second device through an intermediate device. The intermediate device is coupled to the first device by a control path and to the second device by a data path. The method also includes a translation module and a transmission module that cooperate to translate control messages received over the control path at the intermediate device to transport data messages and transport data messages received over the data path at the second device to control messages. Transport data messages are sent over the data path to the second device and control messages from the second device are sent over the control path to the first device.

Abstract: Methods, systems and devices for performing gynecological procedures. According to one embodiment, there is provided a device for occluding a fallopian tube, the device including an outer member and an inner member. The outer member may be a hollow, frusto-conical structure shaped to include an open proximal end, an open distal end, and a side wall. The outer member may be self-expandable such that the distal end is biased radially outwardly. In addition, the side wall may have a porous structure to permit the ingrowth of tissue therethrough. Tines may be provided on the outer surface of the side wall to promote the anchoring of the outer member in a fallopian tube. The inner member, which may be structured to induce scarring, may comprise an elongated fibrous body fixed at its proximal end to the proximal end of the outer member. A bore may extend distally from the proximal end of the inner member to receive a delivery rod.

Abstract: A system, method and article of manufacture are provided to perform an automated concurrent licensed internal code (LIC) update and an automated nonconcurrent LIC update on a storage controller. The automated concurrent LIC update is performed on a storage controller by sequentially updating each cluster while maintaining operation of the storage controller. The automated concurrent LIC update allows multiple hosts to continue to access data via the storage controller while the system is actively undergoing the LIC update. The automated nonconcurrent LIC update is performed during the time the storage controller in not operating. The automated nonconcurrent LIC update allows service personnel to perform the update in an efficient and timely manner. When the update has completed, the storage controller becomes available to process data and the system is operating at the latest LIC level.

Abstract: A compact and efficient compressor is provided, based on using magnetic bearing technology, which can operate at high speed and comprises a reliable control system. The compressor of the present invention makes use of two separate compressors mounted on a single common motor, thus sharing a single drive. The balancing of the thrust at high RPM is improved by using a pair of electromagnetic bearings.

Abstract: A patient is diagnosed and a regimen of treatment is prescribed in a system which tests the patients, receives test results from a patient, including DNA test results. A database of human genome data correlating human health disorder with DNA genetic tests is accessed. A database of environmental factors which correlate known human health disorders with environmental conditions is accessed. Risk factors including genetic risk and environmental risk are developed, and from these, a composite risk factor is developed. This is used to access a database of prescribed drug therapy.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein an apparatus and a method in which a workpiece is loaded into the apparatus and the apparatus then moves and positions the workpiece in a multitude of directions based upon the directions and controls supplied to the apparatus through either a computer and applets, a programmable controller and/or through manual intervention. The apparatus can move the workpiece linearly to a predetermined position, rotate the workpiece in a continuous motion, index the workpiece incrementally and/or do any combination of those movements. The apparatus can also control other components such as turning coolant and/or quench valves on and off as desired or powering working tools such as an induction hardening coil. The workpiece is loaded directly on the center of the apparatus movement and positioning device for increased capacity loading and precision movement.

Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to an efficient amplifier for use in radio-frequency identification (RFID) applications. In particular, the invention provides a highly efficient amplifier that requires little power, yet has significant modulation bandwidth to achieve high data communication rates. The amplifier makes use of many components of a class E amplifier including a first transistor, an inductor coupling the first transistor to a power supply, and a shunt capacitor connected in parallel to the first transistor. A second transistor is connected in parallel to the first transistor. A controller selectively controls the first and second transistors to achieve amplitude modulation at a high modulation bandwidth.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and apparatus for monitoring the air pressure of a tire. Various colors are displayed by the apparatus to denote an inflation level of the tire, and the apparatus may remain coupled to the air nozzle of a tire indefinitely. The apparatus may include a diaphragm that deforms in response to an air pressure differential on opposing sides thereof. Deformation of the diaphragm may alter the position of a color indicating cup, such that a color is displayed through an observation window, informing a user as to the inflation state of the tire. Further provided is a method for monitoring tire pressure in high pressure tires.

Abstract: An ionic surfactant-based protomicroemulsion composition contains, by weight of the protornicroemulsion, at least about 20% of an ionic surfactant system, less than about 10% nonionic surfactant, and from about 0.25% to about 50% of a water-insoluble oil. Preferably, the PME contains from about 5% to about 79% of a solvent. The protomicroemulsion forms a microemulsion when diluted from about 10% to about 99% with water. A protomicroemulsion contains limonene and/or terpineol therein. A microemulsion has a high-capacity oil absorption phase and a low-capacity oil absorption phase. The high-capacity oil absorption phase has a high-capacity oil absorption value corresponding to a high-capacity oil absorption function. The high-capacity oil absorption function defines a high-capacity oil absorption area. The low-capacity oil absorption phase has a low-capacity oil absorption value corresponding to a low-capacity oil absorption function.

Abstract: A dishwashing kit contains a container with a foam-generating dispenser and a dishwashing composition within the container. The dishwashing composition contains a surfactant system and solvent. When the foam-generating dispenser is employed with the dishwashing composition, the foam-generating dispenser may generate a foam having a foam to weight ratio of greater than about 2 mL/g. When dispensed from the foam-generating dispenser, the dishwashing composition may also have an effective foaming dilution range of at least about 50% of the dilution range. When dispensed from the foam-generating dispenser, the dishwashing composition may also have an effective foaming dilution range which overlaps an effective solubilization dilution range. When dispensed from the foam-generating dispenser, the dishwashing kit may also generate a foam at a substantially different dishwashing composition to water dilution than the dilution at which the maximum volume of foam is formed according to a suds cylinder test.
