  • Publication number: 20050197734
Abstract: A CNC machine for automatically re-indexing and machining multiple faces of a workpiece includes a traditional three-axis CNC machine and a gripper tool. A bar stock defining a first and at least a second workpiece is loaded within a first and a second vice on the table such that the first workpiece is disposed within the first vice and at least a portion of the second workpiece is disposed within the first and the second workpiece. The CNC machine machines the first face of the workpiece within the first vice. Next, the CNC machine grasps the first workpiece using the gripper tool removably disposed within the spindle. The first workpiece is re-indexed and is loaded into a third vice disposed on the table and the next face of the first workpiece is machined. A support rack is preferably used to support a portion of the bar stock overhanging the table.

  • Patent number: 4170072
Abstract: The disclosure illustrates a fixture permitting the adjustment of a stop which limits the upward travel of a unit type fuel injector plunger. The fixture comprises parallel rails having cross bars for clamping the injector to be adjusted with a given preload. An upper cross bar receives a displaceable rod adapted to be received in a socket in the injector for depressing the plunger. An arm having a given weight at its free end is pivotally mounted to the upper cross arm. The arm is pivoted downward to depress the plunger to its bottom-most position. A dial gauge indicates linear displacement of the rod and the plunger to a desired upper limit of travel where the stop is positioned. The predetermined weight at the end of the arm permits repeatable checking of the adjustment.

  • Patent number: 3945302
Abstract: The disclosure illustrates a tool which permits the adjustment of a pressure responsive flow controlling diaphragm assembly while the diaphragm is pressurized. The tool is used to adjust the position of a central shaft threaded through the diaphragm and held in place by a locking jam nut. The central shaft and locking nut are received in a center bolt having a hexagonal head which holds the diaphragm assembly together. The tool comprises a base that is mounted over the pressurized face of the diaphragm in place of its normal cover. A series of concentric sockets extend through the base for engaging the center bolt and the lock nut. A center shaft extends through the sockets and has a section of an allen wrench received in a corresponding recess of the central shaft of the diaphragm assembly. Suitable passages in the base enable the diaphragm to be pressurized to a desired adjustment pressure.
