  • Patent number: 5238282
Abstract: This invention relates to accessories for automobiles, vans, aircraft, minivans and station wagons and in particular to an improved partition comprised of a main support beam which requires no permanent attachment to the vehicle in which it is installed and from which is suspended generally from the roof to the floor transparent, semi-transparent or opaque curtain panels whose primary purpose is to substantially confine heated or cooled air or air containing smoke to a specific area of a vehicle. The device is adjustable, requiring no permanent alterations to fit the interior of a very large variety of vehicles of different descriptions, can be collapsed and folded while not in use and remains intact while being portable and can be installed anywhere along the length of a vehicle interior where trim moulding, flanges or extrusions of vehicle components or door hardware exists.

  • Patent number: 4581951
Abstract: A transmission shifter (12) for controlling a transmission includes a pair of independent spring biasers (30,32) mounted by a housing (18) to bias an operating member (22) of the shifter and respectively control lateral movement of the operating member in opposite lateral directions independently of each other. Each spring biaser (30,32) preferably includes at least one helical spring (34,36 and 38) for providing the biasing with the lateral bias of one spring biaser greater than that of the other. One of the helical spring biasers (30) includes a pair of helical springs (34,36) one of which has a larger diameter and receives the other, and the other spring biaser (32) includes a single helical spring (38) identical to the larger spring (34) of the one biaser (30). The shifter (12) also includes a ball and pin construction (42,44) for mounting the operating member (22) and a seat and shim arrangement (56,60 and 58,62) for mounting the spring biasers.

  • Patent number: 4528863
Abstract: An isolation package (22) provides connection of a transmission shift lever (14) with a shifter operating member (16). A connector (28) of the isolation package (22) has a threaded connection (30,32) with an upper end (18) of the shifter operating member (16) and extends through a hole (34) in the lower end (20) of the lever. Elastomeric material (36,38) is positioned between the lever end (20) and the end (18) of the shifter operating member (16) to provide a vibration isolated connection. The preferred construction of the isolation package (22) includes an elastomeric sleeve (36) and a pair of elastomeric tubes (38) that cooperate with a pair of the connectors (28) to provide the vibration isolated connection. A clamping plate (50) engages the elastomeric sleeve (36) to limit deformation thereof and thereby rigidify the connection.

  • Patent number: 4489524
Abstract: A portable weld grinding apparatus for grinding welds which is powered by the direct current power source which also powers related welding equipment. The apparatus includes a portable housing which contains weld grinding gearing which rotates a shaft extending from the housing and a grinding wheel which is rotatably mounted to the shaft. An electric motor which is powered by direct current provides rotational movement to the grinding gearing and thereby to the grinding wheel. The device further has an electrical connection lug and ground clamp for electrically connecting the device with the direct current power source which powers related welding equipment.
