  • Patent number: 11120707
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are described for providing machine-learning assistance to a user who may be visually-impaired in the form of cognitive snapshots taken of an environment. The visually-impaired user can be guided by a user application executing on a user device to position the user device to capture an image of a desired portion of an environment. Object recognition processing is performed on the captured image to identify objects present in the environment. An audible listing of the identified objects can be presented to the user. A delta between objects identified across different snapshots can be determined and an indication thereof can be presented to the user. The user application can guide the user towards a particular desired object by outputting an audible or haptic signal that increases in intensity as the user scans the user device towards a location of the object in the environment.

  • Patent number: 8693059
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for printer controller, dynamic N-UP print job imaging. An enhanced printer includes features hereof to dynamically adjust parameters of a print job at any point in a print job. In one aspect hereof, the printer configures a print job for an initial set of printing parameters without host system intervention and may reconfigure those parameters during printing of the print job. In another aspect hereof, the adjustments may include adjusting the relative position of any of the N-UP images independent of any other of the N-UP images. Another aspect hereof provides that the formatting of the print job according to printing parameters by the printer occurs after rasterizing the print job into logical page images. Since the formatting is performed after rasterizing, the printing parameters may be changed at any time during printing of the print job.

  • Patent number: 8341251
Abstract: Enabling storage area network (SAN) component migration are provided. An end-to-end systems management console, referred to as the hardware migration assistant, is provided to simplify the migration steps for a SAN administrator to replace key SAN components. The hardware migration assistant provides a single interface suitable for stepping the SAN administrator through the reconfiguring task faster and with fewer sources of error than the known distributed manual process. The hardware migration assistant of the illustrative embodiments provides an interface through which a user may specify a type of SAN component that is being replaced and identifies the particular SAN components that are being replaced. The hardware migration assistant provides a knowledge base for guiding the user through the replacement operation and the reconfiguring of the SAN components, including the new SAN components, based on the previous configuration of the replaced components.

  • Patent number: 8279457
Abstract: Provided are a method, system, and program generating user defined marking settings to print marks to control post-processing devices. A user interface is generated to enable user input to define at least one marking setting comprising a name of the marking setting, a dimension of a marking, and a location of the marking on the print medium. Marking settings control a printer to output markings on a print medium. The outputted markings on the print medium control at least one post processor device to perform post processing operations on the print medium. User input is received from the user interface defining at least one marking setting. The user defined at least one marking setting is stored with an existing set of marking settings to control the printer.

  • Patent number: 7337399
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for editing a region of a document intersecting multiple content component types in a single operation. The apparatus includes an input module, a function module, an identification module, a document editing module, and an output module. The input module receives a description of a region of a document. The region intersects a plurality of content component types. The function module obtains a function to be applied to the region. The identification module identifies a set of content components intersecting the region. The document editing module processes intersecting portions of the content components using the function. The output module updates the document with processed intersecting portions of the content components. The apparatus may additionally include a format module that determines an acceptable content component format for the function and a conversion module that converts the intersecting portions of the content components to the acceptable format.
