  • Patent number: 4086304
Abstract: A hydrolytically stable composition contains as its essential components at least about 85% by weight of an organic triphosphite and from about 0.1% to 5% by weight of a salt of a metal from Group I or Group II of the Periodic System and an organic acid having at least 8 carbon atoms. An organic triphosphite can be stabilized against hydrolytic degradation in accordance with the invention by mixing from about 0.1% to 5% by weight of the said salt therewith.

  • Patent number: 4080363
Abstract: An organotin dihalide having the formula ##STR1## OR A MIXTURE OF THE DIHALIDE AND AN ORGANOTIN TRIHALIDE IS PREPARED BY REACTING METALLIC TIN WITH AN OLEFIN HAVING THE FORMULA ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical and at least one of R.sub.1 or R.sub.2 contains an oxygen-containing group with a carbonyl group adjacent to the olefinic double bond and Hal is a halogen. The organotin dihalide or mixture thereof with a trihalide is reacted with an acid or mercaptan to produce a stabilizer for polyvinyl chloride polymers and the like.

  • Patent number: 3969319
Abstract: Improved heat stability of halogen containing polymers is obtained by applying as stabilizer a synergistic mixture ofA. An organotinstabilizer of the formula R.sub.x S.sub.n Z.sub.(4.sub.-x) andB. A second organotinstabilizer having one of the following formulae ##EQU1## where x may be 1, 2 or 3, X represents the residue of a polyol containing from 2 to 6 hydroxylgroups; Y represents oxygen or sulphur; Z represents one of the following anions: --S(CH.sub.2).sub.n COOR* where n=1 or 2, ##EQU2## --SR and >S and in addition when x=2 ##EQU3## and --S(CH.sub.2).sub.n COO--; R represents an alkyl group containing 1-18 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl or alkaryl group andR* represents the groups represented by R or the residue of a polyol containing from 2 to 6 hydroxylgroups.
