    Abstract: A timer for controlling an appliance includes a camstack which is continuously rotated during a portion of an entire operation cycle of the appliance. The camstack is rotated in either a slow mode of operation or a fast mode of operation. The timer further includes a first slow pawl which is advanced in a first path of movement. Movement of the first slow pawl in the first path of movement causes the camstack to be rotated in the slow mode of operation. The timer also includes a first fast pawl which is advanced in a second path of movement. Movement of the first fast pawl in the second path of movement causes the camstack to be rotated in the fast mode of operation. A method of controlling an appliance is also disclosed.
