  • Patent number: 5702037
Abstract: An improved pleating machine and method for creating a variety of pleated patterns that are not limited to repeating variation. Pairs of pleating blades move forward and rearward in a pleating motion. During the forward pleating motion, the pleating blades advance the material and create folds therein. The pleating blades then force the folds against heated cylinders resulting in pressed pleats in the material. Displacement of the pleating blades prior to the forward pleating motion causes a reverse pleat in the material; lack of such displacement causes a forward pleat. A cross-member moves to an engagement position and back to a resting position prior to each forward pleating motion. Switching devices, such as sliding blocks, slotted cams, or switch pins, attached to the cross-member selectively engage push-up rods which, in turn, selectively displace the coinciding pleating blades. The switching devices are electronically controlled to alternate positions.

  • Patent number: 5146884
Abstract: A new and useful improvement to internal combustion engines is disclosed which is an engine with an offset crankshaft. When the crankshaft is rotated in a clockwise direction, the distance the piston travels from the top of the stroke (piston at maximum travel) to the bottom of the stroke (piston at the bottom of its travel) is greater than the diameter of the crankshaft rotation. The angle through which the crankshaft moves during the downstroke is greater than 180.degree.. The engine therefore has a longer time power stroke than exhaust stroke. The intake cycle is longer in time than the exhaust cycle which improves aspiration of the engine. This concept can be applied to Otto cycle engines, Diesel engines, two stroke engines, and may be applied to compressors. When used in compressors, the intake stroke is extended which improves aspiration.

  • Patent number: 4967430
Abstract: A method of making up water beds is disclosed wherein a standard size bottom sheet is first placed across the mattress and overhangs the sides of the water bed. A rod or pole having a length, e.g., six feet, slightly less than the length of the mattress is then placed over the sheet at one edge of the bed and then pressed between the mattress and the water bed frame to draw the sheet downward between the mattress and the frame. The rod or pole is pressed downward to the bottom of the water bed frame where the sidewise pressure of the mattress causes the mattress to overlie the pole and edge of the sheet to positively hold the edge of the sheet in place. A second rod or pole of like size is then placed over the sheet at the opposite edge of the bed and pressed between the mattress and the water bed frame to draw the sheet downward between the mattress and the frame.
