  • Patent number: 7306837
Abstract: An ovenable package contains an ovenable product and has a display surface mounting a self-adhesive ovenable label, for example, presenting a coupon or other product promotional item. The ovenable label has at least two layers including a promotional layer defining the text and graphics of the promotional item. The promotional layer can be paper covered by a transparent, heat resistant barrier layer, preferably made of polyester, adhered to the ovenable package directly or to a heat resistant base layer which is adhered to the ovenable package. In this case, one or more layers of the label can be perforated to define a lift off section. Or, the promotional layer itself can be the outer heat resistant layer releasably adhered to the base layer. A labeling method of providing the promotional item to a consumer of the ovenable product is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7296826
Abstract: A composite window label construction has a base pressure-sensitive, adhesive-backed label with a window (14) cut out of it and a second layer of reflective material covering the window (14) from the back side of the base layer (16) and adhered to the back side of the base layer around margins of the second layer. In a method of making the label construction, a continuous release liner is stipped from the base material web after the windows are cut in the base material web and individual swatches of the second layer are cut from a continuous roll of the second layer and individually placed over the windows. Subsequently, the same or a different release liner is reattached to the pressure-sensitive adhesive side of the base web and individual labels are cut from the base web.

  • Patent number: 7140135
Abstract: A flag label for attaching to a product has adhesive faced transparent over-laminate and under-laminate layers on opposite sides of a printed layer. This assembly is releasably mounted on a release liner prior to use. The over-laminate defines an pressure sensitive adhesive backed tab portion demarcated by a tear line of perforations from a body portion of the label, which has pressure sensitive adhesive areas on its rear surface. The tab portion extends from the body portion and a portion of the body portion is unsupported by the product when attached.

  • Publication number: 20040101648
Abstract: A plurality of two-ply labels in sheet form include base and top layers on a single backing sheet with a release surface to which the transparent base layer is adhered with a transparent pressure sensitive adhesive. The top layer is unprinted paper releasably adhered to the upper side of the base layer by a dry residue adhesive. The top and base layers are cut to define a grid of printable labels and the sheets are of a size that can be fed through an inkjet or laser printer or copier. The adhesion between the base and top layers is less than the internal cohesion of the base and top layers and the adhesion of the pressure-sensitive adhesive. A user can print the labels and peel them from the backing sheet, apply them to a product or other substrate, and the top layer can then be peeled from the base layer leaving the transparent base layer adhered to the substrate with the separated top sheet and the exposed surface of the base layer substantially tack-free.

  • Patent number: 6701571
Abstract: A self-adhesive handle for carrying a bag, container, package or the like is formed prior to use into a flat structure having three plies secured to a release liner. A first ply defines a first panel having a junction dividing the first panel into first and second panel parts. The first panel part has an outer edge and a first cut line defining a first hand receiving opening. A second ply defines a second panel extending in a plane substantially parallel with the first panel part and sharing an outer edge with the first panel part and extending to an inner edge adjacent to the junction between the first and second parts of the first panel. The second panel has a second cut line defining a second hand receiving opening at least partially in registration with the first hand receiving opening. A third ply defines a third panel substantially coplanar with the second panel part and sharing an inner edge with the second panel.

  • Publication number: 20040004323
Abstract: A method of promoting business includes the use of a customer interactive message decoding game. The method involves identifying a prize winning message, providing separately a static code in a promotional area, such as an in-store display, a newspaper or magazine insert or product packaging, and distributing a number of game pieces, at least one of which includes a complementary code for deciphering the message by combining it with the static code, without which the message could not be readily discerned.

  • Patent number: 6619608
Abstract: A promotional coaster has a promotional panel releasably adhered to a coaster panel. The coaster panel has a liquid absorbing upper face and an opposite lower face, which may be provided by an overlaminate barrier layer, that is adhered to an upper face of the promotional panel. Indicia are printed on either or both panels at the interface between them. Thus, when the two panels are joined the promotional indicia is concealed to be revealed fully only after the promotional panel is separated from the coaster panel, which is facilitated by a lift region where the coaster and promotional panels are not joined. The location of the lift region is identified by indicia on the upper face of the coaster panel. A method of promoting a product with the promotional coaster is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 6605346
Abstract: The present invention provides a wrap for a napkin, ice cream cone or similar item made up of at least two plies, including a top sheet and a base sheet, in which the two plies are laminated together releasably. Preferably, the lamination of the two plies is accomplished with a dry residue adhesive such that the adhered together surfaces of the two plies are non-tacky after the top ply is removed from the base ply. Printing may be provided on all four surfaces presented by a wrap of the invention to add value to the wrap, for example to present a game to the user or to present the user with coupons.

  • Patent number: 6451397
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a pouch label for attaching a sample to an item, such as a product displayed for sale. Before use, the pouch label is supported by a release-coated liner to which a transparent base layer having an adhesive bottom surface is removably adhered. A pouch, defining a sealed envelope containing the sample, is supported by the base layer. A transparent over-laminate with an adhesive bottom surface is adhered to the base layer to secure the pouch to the base layer. The pouch label can be removed from the release liner so as to attach the sample to the display item.

  • Patent number: 5951054
Abstract: A three-ply label construction has a core release layer which has both sides coated with a release material. Pressure-sensitive label layers are releasably adhered to both sides of the core release layer. The core release layer can be folded to make a booklet construction, rolled to a make a rolled construction, or perforated to define a fold or tear line. An edge of one of the outer label layers extends past the core layer so as to expose an area of adhesive overlapping the opposite leaf of a folded construction to hold the folded construction closed.

  • Patent number: 5855434
Abstract: A package reclosure label has a paper base label which is secured by a pressure-sensitive adhesive to the package. A tear resistant synthetic top sheet has a first end permanently adhered to the base sheet and extends beyond the far end of the base sheet to a second end which is secured by a resealable adhesive directly to the package. A generally unadhered central portion of the top sheet is also releasably adhered to the base sheet. The package is reclosed by folding over its open flap and adhering the first end of the top sheet to the flap. The labels are provided for application to packages side-by-side in multitude on a continuous release liner, with the pressure sensitive adhesive of the base sheet and the resealable adhesive of the second end of the top sheet mounting the labels to the liner in production of the labels and prior to application of the labels to packages.

  • Patent number: 5824380
Abstract: A package reclosure label has a base label which is secured by a pressure-sensitive adhesive to the package. A Z-folded top sheet has a first panel permanently adhered to the upper surface of the base sheet, a second panel folded back over the first panel with an edge extending past the first panel that is releasably adhered to the base sheet, and a third panel folded back over the second panel and extending beyond the second panel to a tab which is resealably adhered to the package. The label can be opened or extended by lifting the tab off the package and breaking the releasable bond between the second panel and the base sheet. Multiple labels can be stored and shipped on a reel of release liner by adhering them to the release liner by the pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back of the base sheet and by the resealable adhesive on the back of the tab.
