Patent number: 7697891Abstract: A baby monitor system has a child unit with a child transducer that receives and converts incoming audio signals to an incoming analog signal. The child unit has an analog-to-digital converter that converts the incoming analog signal to outgoing digital data. A child unit microprocessor converts the outgoing digital data to a wireless signal and a transmitter of the child unit transmits the wireless signal. A parent unit has a receiver that receives the wireless signal and converts the wireless signal to incoming digital data. A parent unit microprocessor processes the incoming digital data. A digital-to-analog converter in the parent unit converts the processed incoming digital data to outgoing analog information. A parent unit transducer converts the outgoing analog information and transmits outgoing audio signals representative of the incoming audio signals.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2006Date of Patent: April 13, 2010Assignee: Graco Children's Products Inc.Inventors: Craig S. Patent number: 7095866Abstract: A high frequency signal transmission apparatus includes a transmitter for transmitting received signals from a signal source as a modulated signal on a high frequency 900 MHz carrier to a remote receiver. The remote receiver converts the high frequency carrier in at least one conversion step to a lower frequency carrier signal. The lower frequency carrier signal carrying the modulated signal is then converted to an audio output or to another carrier signal and retransmitted as a modulated second signal to another remote receiver capable of demodulating the signal and broadcasting the audio sounds or video images. The oscillators in the transmitter and receiver are selectable to operate at discrete frequencies. Automatic fine tuning control is provided in the receiver to accommodate drift of the oscillator in the receiver.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Akoo, Inc.Inventors: Niko Drakoulis, Ronald G. Pace, Michael K. Pedigo, Russell A. Phillips

Patent number: 7082203Abstract: A wireless audio transmission apparatus and method for coupling audio players to audio receivers for broadcast of audio signals stored in and processed by the audio player. A housing carrying operative circuitry is electrically connected by a multiconductor cable to an audio player for receiving stereo channel signals. Band pass filters couple the stereo signal and signal ground conductors in the cable to the stereo encoder in the housing. The filtered stereo signals are received by a stereo encoder in the housing and modulated onto a radio frequency carrier signal. A transmitter coupled to an antenna carried in the cable wirelessly transmits the carrier signal and the audio signals to a remote radio frequency receiver for demodulation and broadcast of the audio signals. Preferably, the carrier signal is an FM radio frequency signal. The carrier signal is optionally selectable from a plurality of different carrier signal frequencies.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: July 25, 2006Inventors: Niko Drakoulis, Ronald G. Pace

Patent number: 6954534Abstract: A multiple signal carrier transmission apparatus and method for broadcasting stereo sounds to an audio output device uses three related carrier frequencies on which are modulated the sum of first and second stereo channel signals and the first and second stereo channel signals themselves. The composite multiple carrier frequency signal is transmitted to a receiver which separates the three carrier frequency signals to generate a separate left channel signal, a right channel signal and a composite center channel, monophonic, signal which is the sum of the first and second channel signals. A detector monitors the signal strength of each separate left and right channel signal to detect a decrease in either channel output below a threshold. When a decrease below the threshold is detected, the center sum signal replaces the left and/or right channel signal having the diminished signal strength for output through the appropriate speaker to minimize channel fade out.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2002Date of Patent: October 11, 2005Assignee: Kima Wireless Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Ronald G. Pace, Michael K. Pedigo, Terry A. Melkey
