  • Publication number: 20050267700
Abstract: A system, method and program product for determining the in-place engineering properties such as density and moisture content of many varieties of engineering materials, are disclosed. The invention also includes a database, material model and sensor model for use with the above-described aspects. In one embodiment, the invention determines a compaction indication of the material based on an effect of impedance characteristics of the material on an electrical field, and corrects the compaction indication for at least one of a sensor depth-sensitivity inaccuracy and a compaction process inaccuracy. The compaction indication is determined based on a material model, and the corrections are based on mathematical and empirical models of the compaction process and the sensor.

  • Publication number: 20050258943
Abstract: An improved system for monitoring an area, and in particular a public area such as a passenger area of a vehicle. Various types of sensing devices and analysis solutions are incorporated and the results combined to enable the monitoring system to operate in an intelligent manner. To this extent, the monitoring system can monitor and confirm the identification of individuals as well as numerous events that may occur within the monitored area. Further, the invention can determine one or more actions to be taken in response to an event, and perform the action(s) automatically without intervention from a user. As a result, the invention provides a solution that can autonomously monitor an area, requiring minimal oversight from a user.

  • Publication number: 20040254424
Abstract: The objective of the present invention is to provide a single endoscope that provides a field of view substantially greater than a hemisphere comprising a forward field of view and a panoramic field of view that are integrated on a single image plane. The invention is described with respect to a rigid endoscope, but the technology can be implemented on a flexible endoscope as well. The advantage of such an endoscope is that it would provide substantially more information to the physician than any single existing endoscope, and it can be used in place of multiple endoscopes with varying directions of view that are swapped throughout a procedure to provide different views. The invention can also be used in non-medical applications for inspection in closed or generally inaccessible spaces such as for example the interior of jet engines.

  • Patent number: 5431422
Abstract: A hand truck for transporting compressed air tanks. The hand truck has the capacity to carry one, two or three tanks at one time. During transport, the tanks are held in place by a plastic spring clip. The tank truck folds to a compact size to facilitate moving and storing. The tank truck may be fabricated from steel or aluminum. No tools are required to fold or unfold the tank truck.
