  • Publication number: 20220387020
Abstract: Implementations of a needle loader and related methods are provided. The needle loader comprises a housing, a movable arm disposed within the housing, and a needle mount defined on the movable arm to releasably attach to an arced suturing needle. The needle loader further includes an arced needle releasably attached to the needle mount. The needle can be held in place on the needle mount by way of an interference fit. The needle mount can be defined on a surface of the movable arm that faces an arced needle track of a suturing device when loading an arced suturing needle in the needle track of the suturing device.

  • Patent number: 8917965
Abstract: A laser optical fiber storage device (10,100) for temporarily storing a free end (12a) of an elongated flexible laser optical fiber (12). A storage housing (14,114) with an open end (116) has an elongated flexible tube (28,128) disposed therein to receive the elongated flexible laser optical fiber so as to prevent laser light from escaping the storage housing. A restrictor (32, 117a, 117b) within the storage housing reduces the inner diameter of the elongated flexible tube. Further, a laser optical fiber storage device (40,100) for temporarily storing a free end (12a) of an elongated flexible laser optical fiber (12) is provided with a clamp (42,123). The storage housing (41,114) has an open end (41a, 116) and an elongated flexible tube (28,128) disposed within the storage housing to receive the elongated flexible laser optical fiber so as to prevent laser light from escaping the storage housing. A laser fiber clamp (42,123) is mounted to the open end to secure the laser optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20140148859
Abstract: A fusion plate (10) for compressing bone material at an interface between a first bone part (929A) and a second bone part (929B) comprises (i) a first end (12) having a first thickness (464); (ii) a thickened region (250) that is spaced apart from the first end (12), the thickened region (250) having a second thickness (466) that is greater than the first thickness (464); and (iii) a compression aperture (22) that extends through the thickened region (250) at a compression angle (224) relative to a planar axis (246). The compression angle (224) can be between approximately thirty and fifty-five degrees relative to the planar axis (246). The first end (12) includes a top surface (26), and the thickened region (250) extends farther away from the bone parts (929A, 929B) than the top surface (26) when the fusion plate (10) is implanted substantially adjacent to the bone parts (929A, 929B).

  • Patent number: 8118849
Abstract: A screw assembly (10) for insertion into a bone region (12A) (12B) includes a screw body (14) and a washer (16). The screw body (14) includes a distal end (218), a proximal end (224), and a distal threaded area (220), and a proximal threaded area (226). The distal threaded area (220) is positioned near the distal end (218) and the proximal threaded area (226) is positioned near the proximal end (224). The washer (16) includes a washer threaded area (238) that engages the proximal threaded area (226) to selectively secure the washer (16) to the screw body (14). With this design, the washer (16) can be selectively attached to the screw body (14) and different sized washers (16) can be alternatively and selectively secured to the screw body (14). As a result thereof, the person inserting the screw assembly (10) can pick the washer (16) size best suited to retain the bone region (12A) (12B) in which the screw assembly (10) is being inserted.

  • Publication number: 20100217327
Abstract: A plate includes a substantially rectilinear posterior tab and an anterior tab. The anterior tab includes a substantially rectilinear rear longitudinal part connected rigidly to the posterior tab such that they form between them a first angle of between about 90° and about 110° and a substantially rectilinear front longitudinal part which is inclined with respect to the substantially rectilinear rear longitudinal part such that they form between them a second angle which is between about 230° and about 250°. The second angle is at the same angular orientation as the first angle. The plate is thus shaped appropriately in relation to the calcaneus and can be placed in position in a minimally invasive manner.
