  • Patent number: 4526138
Abstract: A fluid injector for internal combustion engines in which the fluid flow to the engine is indicated in the driver's compartment and in which a mixing chamber in the compartment communicates with a primary vacuum line of the engine and with a fluid reservoir. A valve is disposed between the reservoir and the chamber to prevent the flow of fluid from the reservoir when the engine is not running. A needle valve is disposed in a fluid inlet port for adjusting the volume of fluid entering the chamber. An adjustable air inlet port is disposed in the chamber, and a vacuum gauge is provided for monitoring the vacuum in the chamber. The vacuum from the primary vacuum line draws fluid into the chamber from the reservoir, where the fluid mixes with air and the mixture is drawn to the engine carburetor.

  • Patent number: 4182009
Abstract: A surface-discharge igniter is formed by positioning a tubular assembly coaxially within the outer shell of a nose portion of the igniter. The assembly is welded about one end to form a seal with the outer shell, and glass material is placed within the assembly to form a seal with a central rod-shape electrode extending coaxially within the assembly. The assembly has an outer tube of the same material as the outer shell, and an inner tube which extends coaxially within the outer tube and which is of a different material, having a coefficient of thermal expansion substantially the same as that of the glass material. The inner tube is joined to the outer tube at an end remote from the seal with the outer shell. The nose portion forms the operative tip of the igniter and is welded to a rear body portion having screw threads for mounting the igniter and for making electrical connection to it.

  • Patent number: 4141737
Abstract: A method for preventing surface cracking of a portland cement mortar or concrete containing a film-forming polymeric modifier, comprising applying onto a fresh, non-cured mortar or concrete surface a substantially continuous coating comprising from about 0.06 to about 1 lb/yd.sup.2 of said mortar or concrete surface of a material selected from the group consisting of polyglycerine, glycerine and mixtures thereof.

  • Patent number: 4039345
Abstract: This invention pertains to improved shrinkage compensating portland cement concrete and mortar compositions comprising essentially an expansive portland cement, mineral aggregate, from about 5 to about 25 percent based on cement weight of a styrene-butadiene-1,3 copolymer having a styrene to butadiene weight ratio of about 30:70 to 70:30, water and certain minor amounts of nonionic and anionic surfactants, and a foam depressant. When properly restrained by either external restraints or internal restraints in the form of ordinary reinforcement or fibers of various lengths, these compositions possess improved mechanical and physical properties such as compressive and flexural strengths and unexpectedly enhanced freeze-thaw resistance. Such compositions are particularly suited for use in the construction of crack-free structures.
