  • Publication number: 20080302351
Abstract: A portable gas fired heater includes a combustion chamber having an air inlet and an air outlet. A low DC voltage (optionally AC voltage) fan or blower directs air through the combustion chamber so that the air is heated. Preferably, a vortex generator is located between the fan or blower and the combustion chamber such that air entering the combustion chamber swirls. The heater is designed to have a low center of gravity and thus difficult to tip-over. Nevertheless, several safety features are provided including a tip-over switch, thermal coupler, temperature limit switch, and a manual shutoff.

  • Publication number: 20080053626
Abstract: A control system for a top down/bottom up covering for an architectural opening includes a head rail and an independently moveable bottom rail and middle rail. A shade material extends between the middle rail and the bottom rail and control systems are provided at opposite ends of the head rail for operating the middle rail independently of the bottom rail. Each control system includes lift spools associated with lift cords that are secured to the bottom rail or middle rail with the lift spools being seated in cradles and rotated by a drive shaft connected to manually operated control elements. Each drive shaft is operatively connected to a braking system in the form of a two-way clutch so the drive shafts can be rotated in either direction to raise or lower a bottom or middle rail, but locked in any selected position.

  • Patent number: 7159635
Abstract: A spool forming part of a lift cord drum for a covering for an architectural opening has a generally cylindrical body about which the lift cord is adapted to be wrapped and a frustoconical end encouraging the wrapped cord to shift in a predetermined direction. A longitudinal slot in the cylindrical body retains one end of the lift cord and allows the end of the lift cord to slide along the slot as wrapped cord is increased or decreased so as to minimize the possibility of the cord becoming entangled in itself.

  • Patent number: 4444022
Abstract: A container construction and combination in which a container for confining water or other fluid to be heated is provided with a metal heat exchanger disposed within the container. The heat exchanger is comprised of a single wall tube structure having outwardly directed fins extending in a vertical direction within the container. Means are provided for connecting an upper end of the heat exchanger to a source of heated refrigerant through an upper opening provided in a side wall of the container, the refrigerant being vaporized when heated, and condensed when cooled in the heat exchanger. The disposition of the heat exchanger permits the force of gravity to remove condensed refrigerant from the heat exchanger. Means are provided for returning condensed refrigerant to the source of heated refrigerant from a lower end of the heat exchanger and through a lower opening in the side wall of the container.

  • Patent number: 4328683
Abstract: A container construction and combination in which a container for confining water is provided with a metal heat exchanger disposed vertically within the container. The heat exchanger is comprised of inner and outer tube structures joined together in heat exchange relationship by fins extending between the tube structures, the fins having cross sections sized to conduct all the heat of a refrigerant in the inner tube structure to water located adjacent the outer tube structure. In addition, the outer tube structure has outwardly directed fins extending in a vertical direction within the container. The heat exchanger has upper and lower ends within the container, and means are provided for connecting the upper end of the heat exchanger to a source of heated refrigerant through an upper opening in the wall of the container, the refrigerant being vaporized when heated, and condensed when cooled in the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4075816
Abstract: A wrapping machine has film feed rolls driven through a one revolution clutch to advance a wrapper length of stock in each cycle, past a continuously driven cutter, to separately driven and intermittently operating sheet locating belts. First sensing means disengage the clutch when no articles are ready to be wrapped. Second sensing means stop the belts in correct wrapping position of the sheet. Movable pressure rollers hold sheets on the belts, to stop with belts. Electrically actuated lifting devices lift the rollers from the belts. Cyclically driven switch means and holding circuits are connected to successively engage an electric clutch to drive the belts while opening a circuit to a brake for stopping the belts and deenergizing the roller lifting devices, then deenergize and disengage the electric clutch while conditioning the circuit to the brake for completion by the second sensing device, then energize the lifting devices for lifting the rollers from the belts.

  • Patent number: 3952859
Abstract: A wrapping machine assembly accelerates articles from a supply conveyor to a wrapping conveyor. Separating bars moved in an orbit over the accelerating portion of the assembly enter into the gap between articles created by acceleration of the leading article or articles. The separating bars and the accelerating portion of the machine are driven intermittently by a drive transmission which is synchronized and driven cyclically with the wrapping conveyor. The intermittent drive which forms the novelty of this invention has a belt loop driven continuously in synchronism with the wrapping conveyor. The belt loop drives an accelerating conveyor and the separating bars, but the driving motion is converted to intermittent motion by a pair of idler rolls which engage the opposite reaches of the belt loop, and swing transversely of the belt reaches to alternately lengthen one reach and shorten the other reach.

  • Patent number: 3938650
Abstract: Articles delivered in side-by-side rows are separated in each row and advanced in pairs to the feeding flights of a wrapping machine conveyor operating at right angles across the ends of the delivery rows, by pairs of accelerating belts that grip the lead pair of articles in the rows between top and bottom belts and advance the pair at a faster rate than the delivery conveyors. Separator bars extending transversely across the paths of the articles are advanced in an orbit around the top accelerating belts and above the bottom accelerating belts by carrier loops located vertically alongside of the accelerator belts. The accelerator belts and the carrier loops are driven intermittently in a cycle synchronized with the feeding flights to advance at higher speed than the article feeding rows during 270.degree. of each cycle and stop during 90.degree.
