  • Publication number: 20080108917
Abstract: To provide controlled amounts of resistance to movement in exercise equipment or in orthotic devices, a control module has cooperating resistance elements. The force between the elements is varied in accordance with the position of the elements with respect to each other. For example the control module can connect two splints of a knee brace so that the resistance to flexion and extension are programmed in accordance with the position of the leg and thigh with respect to each other.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 31, 2007
    Publication date: May 8, 2008
    Applicant: Kinetecs, Inc.
    Inventors: Frank Joutras, Ronald Hruska

  • Publication number: 20070184947
Abstract: To reposition parts of the body, pool therapy fixtures are used in a pool to develop neuromuscular recognition of the normal human musculoskeletal, respiratory and neurological patterns with feed forward activation. Individual muscles are isolated using the buoyancy of the pool, and in some cases applying streams of water within the pool against specific muscles. Selected forces may be applied using waterjets in multiple directions in a programmed sequence with at least one pool therapy fixture to provide neuromuscular training.
