  • Patent number: 4400109
Abstract: A marine compliant riser system is provided for attaching a flexible flowline to a buoyed conduit riser section. The improved system includes a releasable yoke assembly for receiving flexible flowline with a means for holding flexible flowline termination.Quick-disconnect yoke attachment means support and lock the yoke assembly onto horizontal buoy-mounted support means. A fail-safe release means is provided for pulling an unreleased yoke attachment away from the support arm in the event of an opposite end release. The system is particularly adapted for emergency disconnect of a subsea wellhead or production gathering system from a floating vessel.

  • Patent number: 4360577
Abstract: A cathode for a power module of the type including a consumable electrode. The cathode includes a face plate and a back plate with the face plate having a face surface defined by a plurality of horizontal ribs separated by grooves which function to present an electrolyte under controlled flow conditions to the inner face between the cathode and the anode. The rear surface of the face plate has electrolyte inlet and outlet passages therein extending generally at right angles to the grooves and opening into the grooves in the form of metering slots. The back plate is constructed for communication with inlet and outlet manifolds and provides inlet and outlet passages aligned with like passages in the face plate to effect a constant supply of electrolyte for circulation along the face surface of the face plate, as well as an ample outlet and return arrangement.

  • Patent number: 4200685
Abstract: A power module of the electrochemical battery type wherein shunt losses along the side edges of the anodes disposed generally parallel to the electrolyte path are prevented by the anode side edges being sealed relative to the casing by the casing being constructed with internal side walls which are deformable under gaseous pressure to maintain sealing contact with the cell units.

  • Patent number: 4189528
Abstract: A power module assembly in the form of an electrochemical battery which is composed of a plurality of anode-cathode units arranged in stacked relation within a housing. It is necessary that the anodes and cathodes be tightly pressed together at all times so that as an electrolyte flows therebetween there will be the desired electrochemical reaction. This is accomplished by a pressure device. Since the anodes are consumable, as the anodes are consumed it is necessary that the stack be compressed to that the same pressure may be maintained between the anodes and cathodes. Accordingly, the pressure device is capable of expanding and at the same time transmitting constant pressure on the stack.

  • Patent number: 4188462
Abstract: A power module assembly of the electrochemical battery type. The assembly is formed of a plurality of individual monopolar cells which are mounted in stacked relation between a pair of end plates. Each cell is generally self-contained except for the electrolyte supply, and includes a slidably mounted anode which is held in constant contact with a cathode plate by a pressure bag assembly. The side faces of the anode are sealed against electrolyte flow so as to segregate adjacent cells against power robbing eddy currents.
