  • Publication number: 20080276537
Abstract: A drive unit for driving a liftgate of a motor vehicle between closed and open positions. The drive unit includes an extendable strut having an outer tube and an inner tube coupled telescopically for movement between retracted and extended positions corresponding with the closed and open positions of the liftgate, respectively. The drive unit includes a drive screw mechanism for retracting and extending the extendable strut. The drive unit also includes a motor and gear set for actuating the drive screw, wherein the motor and gear set are supported by one of the outer and inner tubes of the extendable strut. The drive screw mechanism utilizes a ball bearing for translating rotational movement of the drive screw into translational movement of a housing and the inner tube interconnected therewith.

  • Publication number: 20080236987
Abstract: A park brake includes a brake lever that is movable about a primary and secondary pivot. The brake lever selectively rotates about the primary and secondary pivots changing a ratio of rotation of the brake lever relative to a cable.

  • Publication number: 20080041185
Abstract: A parking brake assembly which includes a brake lever, a rotary clutch and a lock-release mechanism which cooperate to selectively lock and release a parking brake. The clutch allows actuation of the brake lever in one direction and prevents movement of the brake lever in an opposite direction. The lock-release mechanism allows selective movement of the rotary clutch and the brake lever together in the opposite direction. The rotary clutch may be disposed generally coaxially with a pivot axis of the brake lever.

  • Patent number: 7014017
Abstract: An actuating assembly for an electronic parking brake includes a housing and motor secured to the housing and having an output shaft. A cable assembly is rotatably driven by the motor. A cable is anchored at a first end to the cable assembly and wraps around the cable assembly as the cable assembly rotates in a first direction. A first spring is secured to the cable assembly such that it is rotatable with the cable assembly. A drum receives the first spring, which is engageable with an interior surface of the drum to prevent rotation of the cable assembly. A plurality of grooves is formed on a surface of the drum. At least one roller element is positioned in a groove of the drum. A spring housing receives the drum and is secured to the housing. Each of a plurality of apertures in the spring housing receives a roller element.
