  • Patent number: 11606933
Abstract: A wild bird treatment system includes an enclosure for accommodating a plurality of wild coveying birds targeted for treatment with at least one ground level entrance of a size and location to permit the targeted birds to freely enter and exit the enclosure while excluding non-targeted animals. An electronic bird caller for attracting wild coveying birds is provided. A feeder assembly, slidably removable from the enclosure, includes a slider assembly and a feed hopper. The slider assembly, slidably removable from the feeder assembly, includes a feed plate assembly and a feed slide for controlling flow of medicated feed. The feed plate assembly, slidably removable from the slider assembly, includes a feed plate of a size and a food delivery box with outlets of a size to control the rate of medicated feed released from the feed hopper specific to the birds targeted for treatment.

  • Patent number: 10674714
Abstract: A system for treating wild birds includes an enclosure formed of a mesh material large enough to accommodate a plurality of wild coveying birds targeted for treatment. A call bird box is positioned within the enclosure. A call bird of the same species as the targeted birds is housed in the call box and makes calls for attracting the targeted birds. At least one ground level entrance is provided, sized and located to permit the entry of targeted birds into the enclosure while excluding non-targeted animals. A feeder containing medicated feed is provided within the enclosure for feeding the targeted birds entering the enclosure in order to treat the targeted wild coveying birds for parasites or disease. A cover is provided for protecting the medicated feed in the feeder from the environment. Methods for installing such a treatment system and treating wild birds using a treatment system are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200171003
Abstract: Compositions, methods of preparing compositions, and methods of treating parasitic nematode infections in wild birds include a fenbendazole premix and a grain formulation. The fenbendazole premix includes fenbendazole, a solvent, a solubilizing agent, and a premix grain carrier. The grain formulation includes a plurality of grains selected from the group consisting of ground corn, soybean meal, whole milo, wheat midds, and rice bran. The fenbendazole premix is integrated within the grain formulation thereby yielding a fenbendazole concentration in the composition of between 80 ppm and 120 ppm. Processes and methods of preparation include mixing the fenbendazole premix and grain formulation in an industrial ribbon mixer, fully integrating the fenbendazole within the grain formulation. Methods of treating include collecting and testing samples, determining a number and location of treatment systems, and charging a feeder with the claimed composition.
