  • Patent number: 6397594
Abstract: A hydrostatic transmission design incorporating a unique housing shape and configuration, including a vertical split of the two casing elements, which are shaped to conform to the internal components of the transmission. The center section of the transmission has a unique configuration including a trunnion mounted swash plate, means for mounting the center section to the transmission and a motor output shaft mounted below the pump running surface. The transmission also includes an expansion chamber, preferably secured externally to the sump, having a tube mounted therein to transfer hydraulic fluid between the chamber and the sump.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 3, 2001
Date of Patent: June 4, 2002
    Assignee: Hydro-Gear Limited Partnership
Inventors: Raymond M. Hauser, Lonnie E. Holder, John D. Schreier, Ronald J. Sporrer, Michael Lee Bennett

  • Patent number: 5207144
Abstract: A swashplate leveling device has a reciprocative leveling follower movable along a fixed axial pin. The cam is biased into engagement with a swashplate of an axial piston variable displacement hydraulic unit to position the swashplate in a zero displacement orientation when there is no control input to the hydraulic unit. The leveling device has a pair of contact points, one positioned on each side of the swashplate tilt axis in a manner that both contact points engage the swashplate when it is leveled to its zero displacement orientation.
