  • Publication number: 20020136885
Abstract: A gas/liquid contact media for use in an evaporative cooler has a fibrous material structure impregnated with a polymer-based continous phase designed to have solubility and interfacial tension properties that promote intimate wetting with in-service water while inhibiting scale deposition, and an overall cationic charge on the polymer to repel positively charged particles or ions in the water in order to further prevent scale build-up on the media.

  • Patent number: 5408838
Abstract: A method and apparatus for conditioning the temperature and humidity of unrecycled ambient air within a certain climatic window of parameters to a desired point within a certain conditioned window of parameters is provided that comprise directing part of the ambient air through a cooling coil and humidifier connected in series and directing the other part of the ambient air through a bypass duct and recombining the bypass air with the conditioned air to create an air stream at the desired temperature and humidity. The air passing through the cooling coil and humidifier is overcooled and then brought to the desired condition upon combination with the bypass air.

  • Patent number: 4940475
Abstract: A variable capacity evaporative humidifier includes a housing, evaporative media disposed within the housing, and variable bypass apparatus for diverting a portion of the flow of air through the housing away from the evaporative media, such that the rate of moisture added to the flow of air through the housing is variable by selecting the relative proportions of air flowing through the evaporative media and the bypass passageway. Deflector panels disposed downstream of the evaporative media and damper blades disposed within the bypass apparatus intermix the bypass airstream with the humidifier airstream, thereby avoiding stratification.

  • Patent number: 4321797
Abstract: A waste heat recovery system for use with refrigeration means and a hot water reservoir is disclosed. The system is intended for use with refrigeration means of the type including a compressor and a condenser through which a compressible refrigerant is circulated. The system includes a heat exchanger having a refrigerant passage and a water passage mutually coupled in heat exchange relation. A heat exchange circulation conduit connects the water passage of the heat exchanger in fluid communication with the hot water reservoir to permit water to be circulated from the reservoir to the heat exchanger and return. A precharged refrigerant conduit connects the outlet port of the compressor in fluid communication with the condenser and includes a pair of bypass conduit sections terminated by quick connect/disconnect coupling members for connection to the refrigerant passage of the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4316367
Abstract: A heat recovery and hot water circulation system for use with refrigeration means and a hot water reservoir is disclosed. A hot water distribution conduit is coupled intermediate the cold water inlet and hot water outlet of the reservoir for supplying hot water to a remote station having a number of faucets coupled to the distribution conduit, and a pump is coupled to the distribution conduit for continuously circulating hot water to the faucets. A heat exchange circulation conduit is connected in parallel fluid circuit relation with the distribution conduit and in series fluid circuit relation with the pump.
