  • Patent number: 9796556
Abstract: A cable dispensing system for unwinding a spool of cable not having a central core, the system comprising a tub having a base and a side wall with a side wall opening partially forming an inner space sized to fit the spool, the system further including an inner assembly having a base plate and a bearing assembly between the plate and the tub base, the bearing assembly supporting both the axial load and providing free rotation of the plate relative to the tub base about an inner space axis and unrestricted rotation of the associated spool about the system axis, the opening in the side wall allowing passage of the associated cable out of the inner space wherein pulling the cable out of the inner space rotates the associated spool about the inner space axis and unwinds the cable from the spool with low resistance and without kinking.

  • Patent number: 9782121
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for determining the occurrence of a closed or open apnea. Respiratory air flow from a patient is measured to give an air flow signal. The determination of an apnea is performed by applying an oscillatory pressure waveform of known frequency to a patient's airway, calculating a complex quantity representing a patient admittance (12) and comparing its value with ranges (14,16) indicative of open or closed apneas. The method distinguishes open from closed apneas even when the model used to calculate admittance is not based on details of the respiratory apparatus. In addition the patient admittance may be compared with admittance during normal breathing to avoid having to characterize the airway.

  • Patent number: 9751113
Abstract: A lumber sorter includes a plurality of bins. A conveyor carries lumber (e.g. boards) along a path extending above the plurality of bins. A diverter is selectively operable to allow the conveyor to carry the boards past one or more bins or to divert a selected board into a selected bin. The diverter may comprise an upstream gate and a downstream gate, each operable to move between respective closed positions and open positions. In the closed positions, the top surfaces of the upstream and downstream gates are substantially level and allow boards to travel along the path as directed by the conveyor. The diverter may be actuated to the open position in which the upstream and downstream gates are separated, thereby providing a path for a board to fall into a bin.

Abstract: AlP composite materials comprise an AlP aggregate core, and a shell disposed partially or entirely over the core and formed from a pigment material, e.g., TiO2, having an index of refraction greater than the core, providing an overall index or refraction greater than the core and suited for use as a pigment replacement or extender. The AlP core comprises amorphous AlP, crystalline AlP, or a combination thereof, and can have an average particle size of less than about 30 microns. The TiO2 can have an average grain size less than about 10 microns. The shell can have a layer thickness that is at least about 0.0001 microns. The shell is bonded to the core by a reaction between functional groups of the shell and core. The AlP composite material can be engineered to provide properties in addition to brightness for use as a pigment such as anticorrosion and/or antimicrobial protection.

  • Publication number: 20170163759
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing preloading of data for client computing systems. A client computing system may provide one or more persistent data storage caches on local storage, such as to support a particular software program executing on the client computing system (e.g., a Web browser program, with the persistent data storage cache designed to store browser cookies and other data for later access by the Web browser program). Additional data may be stored in such a persistent data storage cache by preloading those data groups before they are requested by the client computing system (e.g., based on interactions of a user of the client computing system with an executing program on the client computing system). Particular data groups to preload may be selected in various manners, including to provide a specified type of minimum functionality to a client computing system based on the preloaded data groups.

  • Patent number: 9611081
Abstract: A closure 40 for a container body includes a liner 46 which incorporates a hydrogen generating device comprising a hydride which generates hydrogen on contact with moisture. The liner may be an interference fit within the body 42. The liner 46 and other liners described may include control means for controlling passage of moisture to the hydrogen generating means and/or sealing means for sealing the closure to a container. In use, with the closure secured to a container, water vapor passes into liner 46 and contacts the hydride which generates hydrogen. A reaction between hydrogen and oxygen which has passed into the container takes place, catalysed by a catalyst, and water is produced. Thus, oxygen is scavenged.
