  • Patent number: 10658996
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for rendering ultrasonic signals audible that is characterized in that the temporal dynamic range of the ultrasonic signal is maintained. The amplitude profile of the ultrasonic signal picked up in the time domain remains unaltered. The frequency shift from the ultrasonic range to the audible range is possible up to a factor of 32 using the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20050236337
Abstract: A method for reducing the total concentration of barium in a source of ground water, such that the water can safely be returned to the watershed or used for drinking water, is described. The present method includes extracting the water from a source thereof, and contacting the water with an effective amount of sulfuric acid. The method has the additional benefits that it simultaneously reduces the pH of the water as well as reducing the concentration of bicarbonate ions. An example of water often having total barium concentrations too high for release into the watershed, includes water extracted during coal-bed methane production.

  • Patent number: 4059189
Abstract: In order to grade or classify particles according to their sphericity, the particles are fed onto a moving surface which has a gentle slope in the direction transverse to the direction of movement so that the particles move down the slope while being carried along by the moving surface. The rate of movement down the slope depends on the particle shape so that particles of different shape reach the lower edge of the surface at different positions. This movement of the particles is facilitated by vibrating the surface or moving it intermittently. The surface is preferably a rotating disk.
