  • Patent number: 9625648
Abstract: A monolithic optoelectronic device has a spot-size converter optically connected to a waveguide. The overclad extending over the core of the waveguide is thinner and differently doped than the overclad of the spot-size converter. This structure can be made by applying a process of etching and enhanced selective area regrowth to create regions of the overclad of different thickness or doping. The spot-size converter core is made of a different material than the waveguide core by using etching and enhanced selective area regrowth.

  • Patent number: 9182546
Abstract: A monolithic optoelectronic device has a spot-size converter optically connected to a waveguide. The overclad extending over the core of the waveguide is thinner and more highly doped that the overclad of the spot-size converter. This structure can be made by applying a process of selective etching and enhanced regrowth to create selective regions of the overclad of different thickness or doping.

  • Publication number: 20090008463
Abstract: The disclosed climate zone control system separates a building into separate climate zones, which allows a user to select the desired temperature of each zone. In a single zone, the climate zone controlling system controls the temperature of the single zone where an existing thermostat controls the temperature of air exiting an air handler and the remote thermostat controls the temperature of the designated zone of the building by controlling airflow from the vents. In a multiple zone system, there is a master thermostat that controls the air handler and multiple remote thermostats for multiple designated zones where the remote thermostat controls both the temperature and the airflow.

  • Publication number: 20080236561
Abstract: A combination gas-fired furnace and gas-powered electrical generator. The combination includes a furnace and an electrical generator. The furnace is gas-fired and has electrical components necessary to operate the furnace. The electrical generator is gas-powered, is electrically connected to the furnace, and activates automatically when normal electrical power to the furnace is interrupted so as to allow the electrical components of the furnace to operate when the normal electrical power to the furnace is interrupted thereby allowing the furnace to operate when the normal electrical power to the furnace is interrupted.

  • Patent number: 6061481
Abstract: The invention concerns optoelectronic circuits for an optical wavelength multiplexing system, the circuits being constructed with optical couplers (11; 39.2, 39.4) each having four branches (1,2,3, 4; 39.1, 39.3, 2.times.39.5; 2.times.39.6, 39.3, 39.7). Electrical and optical crosstalk is minimized both in integrated (FIG. 1) and hybrid (FIG. 5) constructions. To this end, photo diodes (6', 6"; 36) and laser diodes (5; 38) are each disposed on opposite sides of the couplers (11; 39.2, 39.4) and mutually decoupled by wavelength-selective arrangements of gratings (8, 10', 10") or filter plates (35). The circuits can be designed for bidirectional operation (FIG. 1) and for cascadable modules for multiplexers/demultiplexers with an add-drop function (5) and enable transmission and reception to be carried out simultaneously.

  • Patent number: 5547198
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a game board apparatus that encourages the creativity of a player by providing an erasable surface having permanently printed indicia comprising artwork, illustrations, or illustrative text, some of said indicia defining boundaries for spatial regions on said erasable surface on the game board, which spatial regions are substantially lacking in color, and upon which a player may apply color from a coloring implement as the playing of a game progresses.

  • Patent number: 5439229
Abstract: A parlor game that, during the play thereof, allows a plurality of players to simulate making purchases and sales transactions involving various tangible properties by dealing with a plurality of fictitious customers with the goal of each player being to maximize his net worth. This game uses parlor game apparatus strips. These parlor game apparatus strips make up a device used as a pathway or trail for playing a parlor game for entertainment, each strip unit being separate from the other, acting together as a playing field having marked spaces constituting a track or pathway of play. Spaces have writing, drawings, pictures, or game options in them.
