  • Patent number: 5478482
Abstract: A novel method and compositions are disclosed for the treatment of water in recirculating water systems. The method includes providing a boron level of at least 20 ppm in the water, continually eroding into the water a compressed sanitizer/algicide component including a halogen source material, a boron source material, and glycoluril, and periodically adding to the water an oxidizing clarifier comprising a chlorine source material, a non-halogen, chlorine source material, and a boron source material. The invention also provides novel water treatment chemicals including the compressed sanitizer/algicide component and the clarifier useful in the foregoing system. The system and compositions are safe and reliable, control algal and fungal growth and generally provide improved water quality for recirculating water systems.

  • Patent number: 4898083
Abstract: A piston head and rod assembly for use, for example, in a gear pump dry valve is disclosed. A cylindrical piston head is provided with a generally oval-shaped cavity formed therein which defines a minor diameter. The cavity opens through one end of the piston head. However, a portion of the opening is blocked by a radially inwardly-extending lip. The lip defines an opening diameter which is smaller than the minor diameter of the cavity. An end portion of a piston rod includes a reduced diameter neck portion and an enlarged diameter tail portion. The neck portion has an outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the opening diameter defined by the lip, while the tail portion has an outer diameter which is slightly smaller than the minor diameter defined by the cavity. To assemble, the tail portion of the piston rod is inserted through the portion of the opening of the piston head which is not blocked by the lip into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4887861
Abstract: A detachably attached panel for closing off the bottom of the space behind a vehicle instrument panel, directly under the dashboard so as to enhance the aesthetic qualities of the vehicle interior is described. The under dash cover comprises an axially elongate formed body having an outwardly facing surface and an inwardly facing surface. Contiguous with the upper edge of the elongate body is a plurality of lips, adapted to rest on a frame lip under the vehicle dashboard. The lower edge of the under dash cover is provided with a magnet to held hold the dash cover in place, and to facilitate ease of installation. A tab is provided at the opposite end of the cover and is constructed and arranged to secure the under dash cover in place by insertion into a loop, disposed on the upwardly sloping surface of the vehicle floor.

  • Patent number: 4786372
Abstract: A fluid arrangement for analyzing a fluid sample using an electrochemical measuring apparatus having an analyzing device with an inlet port and an outlet port, the outlet port connecting to an outlet tube, the inlet port connecting to an inlet tube having a sample fluid receiving end, and the inlet tube connecting at a junction along its length to one end of a fluid supply tube, which fluid supply tube is connected at its opposite end to at least one fluid source containing a fluid. In a first mode, the fluid from the supply source flows through the fluid supply tube to the junction and the fluid then flows simultaneously in a proximal direction and a distal direction within the inlet tube from the junction, and in a second mode, a fluid sample is drawn through the inlet tube past the junction and into the analyzing module.

  • Patent number: 4606927
Abstract: A minute color coded identifier having a longitudinal axis, which is transversely color banded about its periphery. The identifier may, for example, be 0.015 inch long, have a transverse dimension of about 0.004 inch and have seven or more color bands such as to be observable under a power of 10 or more magnification. A method of making such identifiers, as well as a method of applying the same to articles for later identification is disclosed that involves a dispersion of identifiers in a transparent and hardenable cementitious liquid such as nitrocellulose in a suitable volatile solvent such as acetone and ethyl acetate, e.g. a common clear fingernail polish.

  • Patent number: 4604166
Abstract: Apparatus and a process for reducing peristaltic pump noise in a high impedance electrochemical measuring system by eliminating the noise at the pump source so as to minimize the effect of the noise on the precision and the response time of the measuring electrode. In a system having a high impedance measuring electrode connected to the elastomeric peristaltic tubing via a fluid conduit, a high impedance segment is disposed in the fluid conduit between the electrode and peristaltic tubing and means are disposed between the segment and peristaltic tubing for discharging the electrical noise generated by the action of the pump rollers over the peristaltic tubing. Preferably the discharging means is a conductive path electrically connected to an AC capacitive ground wherein the impedance of the capacitive ground is less than that of the segment. The segment may be a nonconductive liquid or gas such as air.

  • Patent number: 4499053
Abstract: Liquid sampling apparatus includes a hollow sample intake tube that has an inlet port adapted to receive sample material to be analyzed, and is mounted on a support for movement about a fixed pivot between a reset position and at least two sample intake positions. Also mounted on the support is manually manipulable drive link structure that carries a slider assembly that receives the intake tube. Track structure on the support guides movement of the link structure to slide the slide member along the intake tube between a reset position in which the inlet port is aligned with a waste receptacle, a first sample in which the inlet port extends forward of the slide assembly for insertion into a sample container, and a second sample in which the inlet port is housed in coupling structure carried by the slider assembly and presented to the operator for connection of a transfer device such as a capillary tube.

  • Patent number: 4429761
Abstract: A seat and hydraulic control lever interlock for lift trucks in which access to a battery compartment is in part enabled by pivoting the operator seat forwardly over the steering wheel, which pivotal movement causes interlocking lever means between the seat pivot and hydraulic control levers to actuate to an armed position. Forward pivotal movement of the control levers to an inoperative position to clear the battery compartment allows the lever means to move to a position in which the control levers are held in such inoperative position until the seat is pivoted rearwardly over the battery compartment.
