  • Patent number: 7162950
Abstract: A round baler having storage and dispensing mechanisms for both twine and net/plastic wrapping materials for the bales can be modified to provide a lower cost twine baler. A pivoting dispensing assembly across the front of the baler is replaceable by a similar-sized twine box to convert the baler to an all-twine baler with sufficient twine storage to make the machine efficient in field operations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 25, 2002
Date of Patent: January 16, 2007
    Assignee: CNH America LLC
Inventors: John R. McClure, Fred M. Horchler, Jr., Ronald L. McAllister, James T. Clevenger, Jr., John H. Merritt, Cecil R. Sudbrack, Joseph N. Smith
  • Patent number: 6857251
Abstract: A round baler having storage and dispensing mechanisms for both twine and net/plastic wrapping materials for the bales is disclosed. An improved twine box is pivotably attached to the sidewall of the baler, adjacent the front end of the baler and twine dispensing mechanism. The twine box, of sufficient size to hold multiple balls of twine, pivots forwardly between a pivoted, or inoperative, position and a closed, or operative position. In the pivoted position various functional components of the baler are accessible for maintenance, adjustment, or repair. The twine box is lockable in the closed position. Side panels on the baler are movable to cover, or uncover, the outside of the sidewall and twine box.

  • Patent number: 4439218
Abstract: Cleaning mechanism for a screen such as a radiator screen mounted adjacent an air-cooled radiator and air-circulating fan for a water-cooled engine to prevent debris from clogging the air passages of the radiator and including a frame supporting the screen as aforesaid, a motor driven shaft extending substantially centrally through the screen, transverse arms rotated by the shaft and having dislodging members in wiping relation to the air-inlet face of the screen, and baffle plates carried by the shaft for rotation relative to the air discharge face of the screen and in alignment with the arms and dislodging members to neutralize the suction effect of the air-circulating fan for the radiator and thereby permit debris dislodged by the members to fall by gravity from the screen.

  • Patent number: 4209137
Abstract: A rotatable cutterhead for a forage harvester having a plurality of parallel support members within plans perpendicular to a central shaft and spaced axially therealong. A plurality of similar chopping blades are affixed in circumferentially spaced relationship to each other around the support members, whereby the interior of said cutterhead is open and susceptible to ingress of cut forage material. Baffle strips extend from each blade inwardly from and adjacent the cutting edge at a sufficient distance and angle to deter the ingress of cut material into the interior of said cutterhead.

  • Patent number: 4023479
Abstract: Apparatus on a round bale forming machine for wrapping a strand of binding twine around a round bale of crop material prior to discharging said bale from the machine. Said apparatus includes a strand directing arm pivotally supported upon a fixed member adjacent the forward end of the machine for movement of the outer end of the arm by powered actuating mechanism between opposite sides of the machine to effect a roving of the twine feeding from said outer end of the arm around and between opposite ends of a round bale to place tension upon said twine as fed from said outer end of said arm, and including an auxiliary spring connected to said arm and operable to produce supplemental tensioning force upon said outer end of said arm as the same approaches the outer extremities of the path of movement thereof.

  • Patent number: 4022120
Abstract: Apparatus on a round bale forming machine for wrapping a strand of binding twine around a round bale of crop material prior to discharging said bale from the machine and including a movable strand directing arm to effect roving of said strand as applied to a bale. Electrically operated power means are connected to said arm to effect movement of the outer end thereof between opposite ends of said bale and control means for said power operated means are mounted remotely therefrom such as adjacent the seat of an operator on a tractor connected disengageably from said bale forming machine.
