  • Publication number: 20100215423
Abstract: A locking device for installation in a loose leaf binder that includes a base member secured to a middle section panel or back cover of the binder at a first location of manufacture and a separate ring mechanism for installation in the loose leaf binder at a second geographical location distanced remotely from the initial point of manufacture. The assembly of the ring mechanism to the base member is achieved by structure formed on the base member operable and adaptable to receive complementary shaped members in a permanent and locked relationship therebetween. Separate assembly of component parts permits bulky binders to be shipped in compact stacks that result in great savings of freight and costs of transportation in moving goods between global locations remote from each other.

  • Patent number: 5806572
Abstract: A reusable dunnage bag is provided for placement between or among boxes or packages of diverse products packed or stored for shipment in trailers or containers so as to cushion and protect the products from damage in being transported from one location to another. The bag includes a self closing valve operable to open so as to permit entry of pressurized medium into the bag, but automatically closes when fully inflated. A gun-like device having dual nozzles is provided for opening the self closing valve for rapid admission of gaseous medium into the bag and for opening the valve to quickly expel the medium therefrom. A discernible difference in noise frequency signals an operator to remove the connection between the gun and the self closing valve when inflation of the bag is complete.

  • Patent number: 4860410
Abstract: A cam action fastener for holding together two parts having holes formed therethrough by inserting the fastener through the holes from one side only of one of the parts. The fastener is formed from a single, elongate member having two outer portions equal in length and an intermediate portion having a length substantially shorter than the length of the two outer portions and connecting them together. The fastener is adaptable to be articulated into a doubled over shape having two unequal lengths of a single diameter for fitting through the holes of the two parts. The fastener is pressed against the outermost part in a manner that causes the unequal lengths to diverge outwardly from each other by cam action rotation of the intermediate portion of the fastener to a point where the two outer portions are spaced a distance from each other equal to the length of the intermediate portion of the fastener.

  • Patent number: 4316690
Abstract: A capped bolt having a threaded shank adapted to receive a nut thereon and a bolt head laterally larger than the shank having a lead surface adjacent the threads. A rigid thermoplastic cap capable of cold flow deformation substantially surrounds the bolt head and has an annular lip in contact with the lead surface having a free end thereof near the shank threads. The annular lip has both exterior surfaces thereof facing the shank such that a line tangent to each surface intersects the shank. When the nut is tightened on the bolt, the lip cold flows into an oversized aperture of at least one of the two or more members being bolted and between the threads providing a hermetic seal.

  • Patent number: 4187961
Abstract: A system for introducing a predetermined amount of particulate matter to a continuous flowing stream of material. The system consists of a hopper connected via a tube having a screw drive positioned therein to a flowing stream of plastic material to be injection molded or extruded. The hopper and tube are constructed and arranged so that dye material in the hopper contacts only the hopper and the inside of the tube, thereby facilitating easy changing of the hopper and tube to permit the introduction of a different colored dye to the plastic material to be injection molded or extruded. The motor mechanism used to drive the screw can be swung out of the way to permit motors to be changed and also to permit the easy changing of both the hopper and the tube containing the screw drive.

  • Patent number: 4135957
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for sealing flexible plastic sheets together. The method is performed by use of a die wherein a pair of longitudinal grooves are provided at the edge of the sealing area. The die is connected to a source of radio frequency energy and the sheets are placed between the die faces to effect the seal. Due to the provision of the grooves the sealing is effected without the extrusion of material into the space between the sheets thereby to produce a stronger and more satisfactory bond.
