  • Patent number: 6575103
Abstract: A table/easel that includes a worksurface having an erasable surface, at least one first leg pivotally coupled to the worksurface, and at least one second leg pivotally coupled to the worksurface. The table/easel further includes a first pivot block and a second pivot block interconnecting the first and second legs in a scissor-like arrangement. The first and second pivot blocks are slidably coupled to the first and second legs. The first and second leg can be slidably adjusted with respect to the first and second pivot blocks, thereby allowing infinite adjustability of the worksurface between a substantially horizontal position and a substantially vertical position.

  • Patent number: 4570895
Abstract: The specification discloses a chair control in which the pretension on the bias means can be adjusted by means of a bolt having a hollow shank with a retractable lever normally stored therein. There is a slot extending from the opening of the hollow shank down one side which can be engaged by said lever when the lever is retracted from the hollow shank and pivoted to one side. There is a retainer cap on the end of the hollow shank which includes an inwardly projecting annular lip which engages an annular rib on the lever to normally hold the lever in its stored position within the hollow shank of the bolt, even though the bolt is oriented upside down when the chair control is mounted on a chair. The lip is yieldable so that one can grasp the lever and pull it out past the lip when one wants to pivot it to one side and into the slot and thereafter rotate the bolt by applying a force to the lever.

  • Patent number: 4519651
Abstract: A convertible inner shell is provided for constructing both armed seats and armless seats. The inner shell has a peripheral edge with at least one notch in which an end portion of a seat arm is received. A tab is hingedly connected with the inner shell, and is shaped to close the outer side of the notch when the tab is closed, so that the peripheral edge of the inner shell is substantially continuous for constructing armless seats. When the tab is opened, the notch forms a pocket in which the arm end is received, thereby adapting the inner shell to construct armed seats.

  • Patent number: 4390206
Abstract: The specification discloses a synchrotilt chair control in which a slide is provided between the front of the seat support and stationary control housing, which slide serves not only to make possible synchrotilt action between the back support and seat support, but also makes possible the incorporation of a seat adjustment assembly. The latter comprises a pivot bracket pivotally mounted on the slide and on the seat support, and an actuator for pivoting the pivot bracket. The pivotal mounting between the seat support and back support is also dual functional in that it supports a pivotally mounted lock plate for locking the control. A height adjustment actuator and hidden handle pretension adjustment bolt are also provided.

  • Patent number: 4265483
Abstract: The specification discloses modular seating in which interchangeable arm and armless end frames include a common rear frame portion joined to each respective front frame portion in butt wise fashion to give an integrated rather than tacked on appearance. The arm and armless end frames both have arcuately inturned rear portions and the armless has a similar arcuately inturned front portion for joining to front and rear cross supports. In contrast, the upwardly extending front leg of the arm frame includes an inwardly projecting bracket for joining to the front cross support and a sleeve on the bracket compensates for the length of the inturned front portion of the armless frame. Since the front and rear cross supports are at different levels, a leveling bracket or apron having triangular shaped sides is mounted between the front and rear cross supports to levelly support a table top thereon.

  • Patent number: 3964789
Abstract: The specification discloses a contoured, molded plastic shell chair whose exterior shell is segmented into arm, back and seat shell segments so that, while each segment is contoured somewhat, each segment is free of any sharp contours. Each segment is separately upholstered by an unseamed upholstery segment. The chair body is supported on a base secured in a recess in the bottom of the seat segment of the chair shell. The upper portions of the base are hidden by a plastic cover secured to the bottom of the chair. The cover includes an aperture through which the supporting post of the base passes and preferably a slot from the aperture to the cover periphery so that the slightly flexible cover can be opened and slipped around the supporting post of the base.
