A controller is used onboard the underwater vehicle and includes a state machine having a plurality of operating states. Each of the plurality of operating states includes one or both of entrance criteria and exit criteria. The controller is configured to transition from executing a first operating state of the plurality of operating states to executing a second operating state of the plurality of operating states in response to the exit criteria of the first operating state and the entrance criteria of the second operating state both being met. The plurality of operating states includes a first portion of operating states associated with a first task, a second portion of operating states associated with a second task, and a third portion of operating states associated with both the first and second tasks.

    Abstract: An antenna module configured for use on an underwater vehicle is disclosed. The antenna module includes an array of spiral antennas fabricated on a multi-layer substrate that provides wide-band RF communication with direction finding (DF) capability. The antenna module can also include other antennas fabricated on the same multi-layer substrate, such as one or more global positioning system (GPS) receivers, an ultra-high frequency/very-high frequency (UHV/VHF) antenna, or one or more iridium antennas. The antenna module may further include a water-proof housing that is coupled to the outside hull of an undersea vehicle via a coupling mechanism. The coupling mechanism allows the antenna module to rotate between a stowed position against the hull and a deployed position that extends the antennas out away from the undersea vehicle. The antenna module is curved or flexible so it can stow against a corresponding curved hull of the undersea vehicle.

    Abstract: A phased array radar, solid state, module retention apparatus having a tool operated tubular assembly at an antenna radiator end of a dual channel T/R module and a wedge structure at the module's connector end. A single rotational motion of the tubular assembly by the tool is translated into linear motion in two orthogonal directions. During installation of the module into a subassembly tray, the tubular assembly translates the module into the connector and wedge structure while simultaneously locking the module in place and applying compressive forces that press the module base at the antenna radiator end of the module against a cold plate of the tray. The wedge structure forces the module base at the connector end of the module the cold plate of the tray as the module translates into the tray connector. The tubular assembly has a helical cam that translates the module toward the connector as it is rotated.

A first surface of the plate is used to mount a plurality of IMPATT diode modules whereas the second opposite surface of the composite plate is used to mount a heat sink thereby providing a thermal path between the diode modules through the composite plates to the heat sink.

    Abstract: A burglar alarm system includes an attack dog and is adapted for use in premises having valuable furnishings subject to damage when the dog becomes excited or incontinent. The system includes a dog kennel in the premises and auditory alarms in various zones which are distinguishable from each other by the dog. When an intruder is sensed by the circuit, one of the alarms sounds, the door of the kennel is unlatched and the dog dashes to the zone recognized. A locked box switch outside the premises is openable by firemen to open the circuit.
