  • Publication number: 20100083803
Abstract: A perforation apparatus has a mandrel to support at least a part of the piping that is to be perforated from the interior of the piping. A punch housing has an aperture through which the piping is moveable and punches arranged radially around the aperture. At least some of the punches have an associated clamping mechanism that applies a force to the exterior of the piping adjacent the respective punch, to push or hold the piping against the mandrel. A driven annular housing rotates adjacent the punch housing. A plurality of rollers engage a surface on the punches during rotation of the annular housing to operate the punches upon contact and to operate the clamping mechanisms. A punch retracting mechanism retracts the punches after each operation. At least one mechanism longitudinally and rotationally moves the piping relative to the punch housing and drives the annular housing.

  • Publication number: 20080282865
Abstract: A perforation apparatus includes a punch housing 4 having an aperture through which 8 piping is longitudinally and rotationally moveable and one or more punches 7 arranged radially around the aperture to perforate the piping, a driven annular housing 3 including an aperture corresponding to the punch housing aperture, a punch retracting mechanism 5, and one or more rollers 6 axially secured to the annular housing, with the annular housing 3 rotatable adjacent the punch housing 4 such that the or each roller 6 rolls around the punch housing 4 and operates the or each punch 7 upon contact, and wherein the retracting 5 mechanism retracts the or each punch after said contact. A control system may be provided to coordinate the longitudinal and rotational movement of the piping with the operation of the punches. A mandrel assembly may also be provided to support the piping during punching and to remove punch waste.

  • Publication number: 20040168320
Abstract: A joined plate and tube includes a plate (12) with an annular neck (13), and a tube (11) extending through the annular neck and including a first reversing fold (14) around a peripheral end of the annular neck, and a second reversing fold (15), such that at least part of the annular neck (13) is held within a substantially S-shaped folded portion (16) of the tube (11). A method of joining a tube (11) to a plate (12) includes providing a tube (11) having a radially outwardly-extending annular portion (27), providing a plate (12) having an annular neck (13) extending therefrom, positioning the tube such that it extends through the annular neck and the annular neck (13) abuts the annular portion (27), and folding the annular portion (27) over the annular neck (13) to hold at least part of the annular neck in a substantially S-shaped portion of the tube.

  • Patent number: 4292666
Abstract: A small, low cost, programmable controller is described capable of solving user programs represented in networks having up to seven rows and eleven columns. A column solver is utilized to provide efficient and fast solution of the user control network. The programmable controller also solves calculate functions having multiple outputs to facilitate use of the output information in the control program.A programming panel using a CRT display shows one or more selected control networks and, in conjunction with the central processing unit of the programmable controller, provides for the insertion of networks between two existing networks. Since the networks are solved by the controller mainframe in a sequential fashion, this network insertion allows the user to optimize his or her control program when solution order of the networks is important.

  • Patent number: 4082031
Abstract: In a gear hobbing machine, the combination of a support, a rotatable hob, a slide mounting the hob for axial shifting on the support, a stepping motor operatively connected to the slide, electronic means operative at the conclusion of a hobbing cycle to apply drive pulses to the motor and thereby to cause the motor to impart a predetermined axial movement to the slide in response to each pulse, a subtractive counter for counting the pulses applied to the motor and means for stopping the motor when the count in the counter is reduced to zero.

  • Patent number: 4022094
Abstract: A trimmer for a lumber package. The trimmer comprises a reciprocating, retaining carriage to receive the lumber package. A first track. Means reciprocate the retaining carriage along the first track from a loading position through a second position. Cutting means on each side of the track at the second position trim the lumber package. Compressor means are reciprocable at the loading position to compress a lumber package in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first track. Releasable retaining means hold the lumber package in a predetermined, fixed position on the retaining carriage as it moves from the loading position through the second position and is trimmed.
