  • Publication number: 20170231009
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are related to multi-user parallel channel access (MU-PCA). For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is provided that is one of a plurality of WTRUs operable to simultaneously communicate via a plurality of channels managed by an access point (AP). The WTRU includes a receiver configured to receive, from the AP, over at least one channel of the plurality of channels, a group request-to-send (G-RTS) message that includes a resource allocation that indicates at least one assigned channel for the WTRU; a transmitter configured to transmit a clear-to-send (CTS) message, to the AP, over the at least one assigned channel of the plurality of channels; and the receiver further configured to receive a data message, from the AP, over at least one channel of the plurality of channels.

  • Publication number: 20170185761
Abstract: A biometric security server and a secure device are provided. A user is enrolled with the security server by collecting a biometric sample of the user and transforming the biometric sample to create and store a transformed enrollment biometric. A request to exchange information encrypted based on a biometric sample of the user is received from the secure device and a secure sketch output is generated from the transformed enrollment biometric and transmitted to the secure device. The secure sketch output has a measurement difference encoding portion and an error correction encoding portion. The secure device collects a local biometric sample and decodes the local biometric sample using the received secure sketch output. An amount of corrected errors associated with the decoded local biometric sample is determined. If the amount of corrected errors is less than a first pre-determined threshold a positive match is confirmed.

  • Patent number: 9681462
Abstract: Method and apparatuses may provide multi-user parallel channel access (MU-PCA). For example, a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is provided that belongs to a MU-PCA group of a plurality of WTRUs that are configured to simultaneously communicate via a plurality of channels managed by an access point (AP). The WTRU may include a receiver configured to receive a data message, from the AP, over a channel associated with the WTRU of the plurality of channels, wherein the data message is one of a group of multiple data messages transmitted simultaneously by the AP over the plurality of channels; and a transmitter configured to transmit a message to the AP over the channel associated with the WTRU, wherein the message includes an indication bit for notifying the AP whether the WTRU has uplink (UL) data to transmit to the AP.

  • Publication number: 20170150294
Abstract: Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed to desynchronize transmissions in group-based operations. A group user equipment (UE), e.g., a UE that is a member of a group of UEs, may be in an inactive mode. The group UE may receive a multicast message indicating that the group UE may enter an active mode. For example, the group UE may use the active mode for periodic reporting of its monitoring activity to the network. The multicast message may indicate a mechanism for the group UE to use to send an uplink transmission to the network. The group UE may send the uplink transmission to the network at a transmission time indicated by the mechanism. The transmission time may be desynchronized from other UEs in the group.

  • Publication number: 20170086185
Abstract: A concurrent multi-carrier (MC) wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) capable of concurrently processing multiple radio carriers may simultaneously connect to multiple base stations for receiving multiple service flows via multiple air links. The concurrent-MC WTRU may be serviced by multiple base stations through multiple concurrent radio carriers simultaneously during normal operation for downlink and/or uplink communications. Each base station may provide special services optimized for each base station. The WTRU may use a lower quality air link for low priority services or low resolution data services while use a higher quality air link for high bandwidth or low latency services. A diversity gain may be achieved by combining signals from multiple base stations. The support and use of the multiple air links at the WTRU may be transparent to the base stations. Alternatively, base stations' support may be provided for setting up and operations of the multiple air links.

  • Publication number: 20160330765
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for enabling high-efficiency communication in wireless local area network (WLAN) systems. A station (STA) may receive an Uplink Priority List (UPL) from an access point (AP). In one example embodiment, a STA may send a request for prioritized access to an AP. The STA may then receive an ordered queue of STAs granted contention free prioritized access in a predetermined time interval, which may be referred to as the Exclusive Priority Access (EPA) period. The STA may then determine whether it is identified in the ordered queue of STAs granted prioritized access. The STA may then access a medium such as a Carrier Sense Multiple Access (CSMA) wireless medium associated with the IEEE 802.11 network, in turn with other STAs in the ordered queue per the queue order during the predetermined time interval using an inter-frame spacing, thereby enabling contention free access.

  • Publication number: 20160165595
Abstract: Method and apparatus for reporting feedback information for multi-carrier operation are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configured with multiple carriers. A base station may allocate an uplink (UL) control channel associated with a single UL carrier, for the WTRU. The base station may transmit, to the WTRU, a plurality of data signals via at least two downlink (DL) carriers using orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO), and may receive from the WTRU hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgment/negative-acknowledgement (ACK/NACK) information, for the plurality of data signals transmitted via the at least two DL carriers, on the UL control channel. The HARQ ACK/NACK information may include at least two HARQ ACK/NACKs ANDed together. In addition, the base station may transmit, to the WTRU, information including a set of the DL carriers, each having an associated three bit indicator, for DL data transmission.

  • Publication number: 20080009262
Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting an emergency call in a wireless communication system including a wireless metropolitan area network (WMAN) are disclosed. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) sends an emergency call message to a base station of the WMAN to make an emergency call along with an emergency call indication. The base station then admits the emergency call with or without performing a security procedure and connects the WTRU to an emergency call center. The base station and the WTRU may communicate capability information regarding support of emergency calls. Location information of the WTRU is also forwarded to the emergency call center. The base station may work as a proxy for the WTRU if the WTRU does not have all the required functionalities to complete the emergency call. The WTRU may be a multi-mode WTRU capable of communicating with two or more radio access networks (RANs).

  • Publication number: 20070173303
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for selecting a set of antennas, for use during operation of a radio system, from a plurality of antennas. The system, method and apparatus may include selecting one antenna that is part of an array of antennas. Then measuring characteristics of radio signals received at the antenna. The selection and measuring of characteristic is repeated for a desired number of antennas in the array. Then, the measurements are combined, and the combinations of antennas are ranked based upon the combined measurement. From the ranking combinations of antennas are selected for use during operation of a radio system.
