Abstract: A method for managing a flow of information in an object oriented software environment. A master MOM (130) and at least a second MOM (135) can be initialized. A third MOM (140) also can be initialized. A change resolution (150), which includes data correlating to a change in a device in a system, can be automatically propagated from the second MOM to the master MOM. The change can be a change in configuration data or a change in a run-time state of the device. Data in the master MOM correlating to the change resolution can be updated. In response to the change resolution, a change publication (160), which includes data correlating to the change resolution, can be automatically propagated from the master MOM to at least the third MOM. Data in the third MOM correlating to the change publication can be updated.

Abstract: A unified object model, which is a rational, summative definition of multiple object model specifications. The unified object model can support administration of a network element by a plurality management applications communicating via different network protocols. For example, the unified object model can support administration by Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) management applications, Software Communications Architecture (SCA) management applications, simple network management protocol (SNMP) management applications, or any combination of these. A plurality of application programming interfaces (API's) are provided for communication between the plurality of managed objects in the MIB and the plurality of software applications for performing data accessing and mutation to support interoperability. The plurality of API's can include all methods associated with a respective object model.

Abstract: A method for updating an updateable event forwarding discriminator (UEFD) with a filter object. The filter object can be created and instantiated within the UEFD during continued operation of the UEFD. The method can further include the steps of defining a filter algorithm text string, incorporating the filter algorithm text string into a filter class template, and compiling the filter class template to create the filter object. The filter algorithm can be simple or complex. A preexisting filter object can be de-referenced immediately prior to instantiating the filter object. Provisions can be incorporated for automatically checking type and syntax of the filter algorithm text string to identify one or more errors and providing an output error signal in the case that the one or more errors are identified. The UEFD can incorporate multiple filter parameters. A method for managing at least one event forwarding discriminator is provided.
