  • Patent number: 7045193
Abstract: The invention involves en improved display mat having high-definition graphics for use on a variety of surfaces including carpet. The display mat is comprised of a flexible polymeric sheeting having top and bottom sides, a high-definition image printed on the top side of the sheeting; and a coating overlying and protecting the image and providing a durable non-slip surface. The display mat has sufficient cohesion between the sheeting, image and coating to withstand repeated rolling and unrolling without separation. • Patent number: 4826222
Abstract: A latch having a base and a latch plate pivoted thereto, the base being adapted for installation on a closure frame and the latch plate being adapted to overlie the closure. The latch plate is pivotally mounted on the base to swing between an unlatched position in which the closure can be opened, and a latched position in which the closure cannot be opened because the latch plate overlies it. A handle pivotally mounted on the base swings the latch plate between the open and closed positions. At least one of the base and latch plate are made of an elastically deformable material. The latch plate is moved to the latching position by the camming action of the handle; and when the latch plate has moved only part way toward the fully latched position, abutment surfaces on the base and latch plate come into contact with each other.

  • Patent number: 4721406
Abstract: A friction pivot joint for use between two components such as two arms, or an arm and a frame or sash plate, of a window stay. The joint comprises an aperture in a first of the components, an annular shoulder surrounding and projecting from the periphery of the aperture, an aperture in the second component such that the component is located about the shoulder. A self-lubricating and wear-resistant bushing interposed between the shoulder and the second component to prevent direct contact therebetween and a fixing element extends through the joint and is fixed within the aperture below the shoulder so as to apply friction creating pressure to the joint.

  • Patent number: 4703540
Abstract: A window stay for use in mounting a window sash to a window frame, comprising a lower arm adapted to be pivotally mounted to the frame of a window at its proximal end and to the sash of the window at its distal end, a first upper arm adapted to be pivotally mounted at its proximal end to the frame of the window at a point spaced from the mounting of the distal end of the said lower arm, a second upper arm pivotally connected at its proximal end to the distal end of the said first upper arm and adapted to be pivotally mounted at its distal end to the said window sash at a point spaced from the mounting of the distal end of the said lower arm, and an intermediate control arm extending between the said lower arm and the said first upper arm and pivotally connected to each at points spaced from the ends thereof so as to direct movement of said first upper arm during opening and closing the the stay.

  • Patent number: 4582435
Abstract: A pivot bearing between first and second components (10,11) each of which is formed from a metal material. The pivot bearing comprises a hollow annular boss (14) which is formed as an integral part of the first component (10) by being drawn from the base material from which the first component is formed. An opening (12) is provided in the second component (11) and the annular boss (14) is pivotally located within the opening. The free end portion (18) of the boss (14) is pressed over such that the cross-sectional area of the free end is greater than the opening (12) thereby pivotally retaining the second component (11) on the annular boss (14). A wear-resistant plastics bushing comprising a sleeve (15) and a flange (16) can be positioned within the bearing and placed under pressure by the coupling of the components to create a required level of friction within the bearing.

  • Patent number: 4555829
Abstract: A window stay comprises a pair of mounting plates, one being adapted for mounting to a window frame and the other being adapted for mounting to a window sash. The frame and sash mounting plates are coupled together by first and second arms, the first arm being shorter than said second arm, each of the first and second arms being pivotally connected to the sash mounting plate. The first arm is pivotally connected at a fixed point to the frame mounting plate. There is a third arm pivotally connected to the second arm, one of the second arm and said third arm being pivotally connected at a fixed point to the frame mounting plate and the other of the second and third arms being pivotally and slidingly connected to the frame mounting plate for sliding movement in a substantially longitudinal direction along the frame mounting plate.

  • Patent number: 4441835
Abstract: A friction pivot joint where a headed fastening couples two components by passing through aligned openings in the components and having structure for preventing axial movement of the tail of the fastening. The joint is characterized by the shank of the fastening extending through a bushing of wear resistant plastics material located in the opening in one component. The bushing has integrally formed therewith a peripheral flange and the flange is sandwiched between the two components thereby preventing contact between the components. Friction in the joint is created from the plastics bushing and integral peripheral flange being placed under pressure by the fastening. The bushing has a length which is greater than the length of the opening in which it is located with the result that during assembly of the joint pressure created by the fastening causes the free end of the bushing to flow under the head of the fastening to be retained thereunder by retaining structure.

  • Patent number: 4259811
Abstract: A releasable retaining means for mounting on the inside of an outward opening closure element movable to open and close an opening. First and second mounting means (13 and 14) are respectively mountable on the closure element (11) and opening surround (12) with a stay (15) slidably and pivotably coupled to the second mounting means (14). Stay (15) is pivotably couplable by engagement means (22) to the first mounting means (13) and releasable therefrom by sliding stay (15) relative to mounting means (14) but only when the closure element is closed. Recoupling means (16, 24) automatically cause the engagement means (22) to couple to said first mounting means (13) when the closure (11) is moved into the closed position. The retaining means thus prevents closure element (11) from opening more than a predetermined amount unless the stay (15) is released from the first mounting means (13) prior to opening the closure element (11).

  • Patent number: 4226002
Abstract: A window stay for adjustable mounting of a window sash into a window frame which comprises a first mounting plate adapted for attachment to the frame of a window and a second mounting plate adapted for attachment to the sash of a window. A carriage is slidably mounted on the first mounting plate. An arm is pivotally connected by one end to the sash mounting plate and by the other end to the frame mounting plate. The sash mounting plate is further pivoted but at a point remote from the pivot coupling the arm to the frame mounting plate to the slidably mounted carriage. Means are provided which cause the carriage to be angularly displaced relative to the frame mounting plate during the initial opening and closing.
