  • Patent number: 7562506
Abstract: Notched, surface-mounted wall anchors and anchoring systems employing the same are disclosed. The anchor is a notched, folded sheetmetal construct utilizable with various wire formative veneer ties. The depth of the notch is greater than the combined thickness of the wallboard and the waterproofing layer. Various embodiments show wall anchor configurations with suitable veneer ties and differing sheathing arrangements. The notches, upon surface-mounting of the wall anchor, form small wells in the portion of the notch extending into the insulation, which wells entrain water vapor, condensate and water, and relieve the same from being driven into the wallboard.

  • Patent number: 7017318
Abstract: A high-span anchoring system is described for a cavity wall incorporating a wall reinforcement combined with a wall tie which together serve a wall construct having a larger-than-normal cavity. Further the various embodiments combine wire formatives which are compressively reduced in height by the cold-working thereof. Among the embodiments is a veneer anchoring system with a low-profile wall tie for use in a heavily insulated wall. The compressively reduced in height wall anchors protrude into the cavity through the seams, between insulation strips, which seams seal thereabout and maintain the integrity of the insulation by minimizing air leakage. Further, the eye wires extend across the insulation into the cavity between the wythes, and each accommodates the threading thereinto of a wire facing anchor or wall tie with either a pintle inserted through the eye or the open end of the veneer tie. The veneer tie is then positioned so that the insertion end is embedded in the facing wall.

  • Patent number: 6789365
Abstract: Side-welded anchor and reinforcement devices for a cavity wall are disclosed. The devices are combined with interlocking veneer anchors, and with veneer reinforcements to form unique anchoring systems. The components of each system are structured from reinforcing wire and wire formatives, including as part thereof truss or ladder mesh reinforcements, and provide wire-to-wire connections therebetween. Beyond the portions of the wire formatives inserted in the backup wall, the wire formatives are reduced in height by cold-working thereof. The combined side-welded wall anchor and reinforcement devices are compressively reduced in height for spanning insulation mounted on the exterior of the backup wall. The low-profile portions are disposed between thick strips of insulation and maintain integrity thereof by preventing air leakage.

  • Patent number: 6584746
Abstract: A masonry flashing system is disclosed which includes a laminate for flashing cavity walls and a hot melt adhesive composition for coating the surface of the laminate. The adhesive is selected for compatibility with a peel-and-stick installation and, thus, upon pressure activation, when the laminate with hot melt adhesive thereon is pressed against the rough surface of the masonry block, a durable bond is created. The laminate is a polymeric substate formed in part from a mixture of polyvinyl chloride and ethylene acetate carbon monoxide terpolymer and is reinforced by an embedded fibrous mat—either woven or non-woven. The system also includes a stainless steel drip plate with a hot melt adhesive coating. The drip plate adhesive coating enables the installer to accurately position the plate during construction and maintain the alignment thereof. Optionally, a foam layer is placed on the lower surface of the drip plate so as to improve the sealing of the drip plate to the brick veneer.
