  • Patent number: 4256293
Abstract: A dash pot which functions to control a throttle throughout its movement and also functions as a throttle return spring comprising a cylindrical body in which a guide member and associated shaft are positioned with the shaft extending externally of the body and a chamber associated with the cylinder having a diaphragm defining one wall thereof. The chamber and cylinder are filled with an incompressible fluid and an orifice is provided between the chamber and the cylinder. A spring yieldingly urges the shaft inwardly. A check valve and orifice are provided in the body to restrict the flow of fluid as the guide member is moved inwardly and permit the relatively free flow of liquid from one side of the guide member to the other as the guide member and associated shaft are moved outwardly. The end of the shaft is connected to the throttle so that when the throttle is released by the operator of the vehicle, the return velocity of the throttle to idle position is controlled throughout its movement.

  • Patent number: 4073272
Abstract: A throttle control system comprising a throttle member movable with the throttle and yieldingly urged toward a throttle closed position and a vacuum controlled positioning assembly including a housing, a diaphragm within the housing dividing the housing into two chambers. A stem is mounted on the diaphragm and extends from the housing through an opening. The plunger has a first cylindrical portion and a second portion including opposed parallel flat surfaces connected by arcuate cylindrical portions having the same diameter as the first cylindrical portion. The opening has longitudinally spaced portions. One portion is cylindrical and generally complementary to said first cylindrical portion of the plunger and the other portion has the same configuration as the second portion of the plunger. A spring yieldingly urges the diaphragm in a direction to retract the plunger inwardly of the housing.

  • Patent number: 3937357
Abstract: A pressure-vacuum relief fuel filler cap comprising a cover, having a base and a peripheral flange, and a sub-assembly mounted at least partially within the cover with said peripheral flange surrounding a portion of the sub-assembly. The assembly comprises a body of synthetic plastic material including an outer threaded end adapted to engage a threaded filler opening, and an enlarged upper end with portions thereof engaging the base of the cover. A pressure relief valve and associated valve seat are mounted within the body and a vacuum relief valve and associated valve seat are mounted within the body. Torque limiting means are provided between the body and the cover for limiting the torque applied to the body during application to a filler opening, so that when a predetermined torque is reached, the cover can be rotated relative to the body and when the cap is rotated in the opposite direction, there can be no relative movement between the cover and the body.
