  • Publication number: 20090301712
Abstract: Included within the scope of the invention is an article of cured fluoroelastomer composition bonded to an inert substrate. The cured fluoroelastomer composition includes a fluoropolymer, a silica, and an acrylate compound. The fluoroelastomer composition is bonded to the inert substrate with a bind having a bond durability of at least about 1500 pounds load at 20° C. The inert substrate may be a metal substrate or a ketone-based polymer substrate. Also included are methods of bonding a fluoroelastomer composition to an inert substrate that may be, for example, a metal substrate or a ketone-based polymer substrate. The methods include contacting a curable fluoroelastomer composition to an inert substrate and curing the fluoroelastomer composition to form a bond between the composition and the inert substrate. The curable fluoroelastomer composition of the methods includes an acrylate compound, a curing agent, silica, and a fluoropolymer that comprises at least one cure site monomer.

  • Publication number: 20090018275
Abstract: The invention includes a method of bonding a perfluoroelastomer material to first surface that includes: (a) contacting a first surface with a bonding agent comprising a curable perfluoropolymer and a curing agent; (b) curing the bonding agent to form a perfluoroelastomer material that is bonded to the first surface. In the practice of such method, the bonding agent may be a solution prepared by dissolving the curable perfluoroelastomer and the curing agent in a solvent. In an embodiment of the invention, the perfluoroelastomer material formed in step (b) is a coating layer or, alternatively, the first surface is a surface of a perfluoroelastomer member and the perfluoroelastomer material formed is a perfluoroelastomer weld.

  • Patent number: 6440052
Abstract: Two movable members, one on either side of a pre-folded continuous form entering a paper stacking area, are driven according to a determined position of the pre-folded form to push a leading edge of the form to one or another side of the stacking area so that the folds in the form will develop correctly in a stack. Only one of the members is permitted to contact the form at any time, and the members are separated by a sufficient angle so that no position of the members permits both members to contact the form. After directing the first and second sheets of the form, the members return to a home position in which neither member obstructs or interferes with subsequent stacking of the form. The position of the pre-folded form may be determined by a leading edge sensor, by a sheet feed rate sensor, by a fold position sensor, by a fold orientation sensor, by timing from a predetermined position, or by manual input.

  • Patent number: 5524718
Abstract: An earth-boring bit has a bit body, at least one cantilevered bearing shaft, including a base and a cylindrical journal bearing surface extending inwardly and downwardly from the bit body, and at least one cutter mounted for rotation on the cylindrical journal bearing surface of the bearing shaft. A seal assembly is disposed between the cylindrical journal bearing surface and the cutter proximally to the base of the cantilevered bearing shaft. The seal assembly includes at least one resilient sealing ring which is formed of a carboxylated hydrogenated acrylonitrile butadiene rubber.
