Abstract: A motor home recreational vehicle having a unitary body structure and method of mounting the vehicle in which the body structure is provided with mounting members that are bonded to the interior of the body with an adhesive to eliminate fasteners exposed at the exterior of the vehicle. The mounting members are attached to vehicle frame portions at the interior of the body structure to securely fasten the body structure and vehicle portion together.

Abstract: An extended width motor home construction has a vehicle body having a floor with a longitudinal gap separating the floor into a first body portion and a second body portion. An insert panel traverses the gap. A method of forming an extended width automotive vehicle comprises the steps of: cutting the floor of the vehicle in a longitudinal direction to form a side portion and a center portion; forming a wedge-shape gap between the side portion and the center portion; coupling an insert panel between the side portion and center portion to traverse the gap.

Abstract: The improvement in motor home construction using a conventional height van vehicle, to provide greater dropped floor area and convenience, and which includes removing a section of the van floor over and on one side of the vehicle drive shaft to provide a floor opening exposing the drive shaft, prefabricating a pan member to fit said floor opening and cover said drive shaft, and having said pan member formed to provide a step covering over the drive shaft, a recessed area for greater toe clearance and turning ease, and structural reinforcement of interrupted frame members without a material change in the shaft and road clearances otherwise obtained.

Abstract: A retractable step for camper-trailers, motor homes and other uses, and comprising; a supporting member which is mounted under a doorway and has a step member connected to it by pivotal linkage which enables the step member to be raised and retracted under the threshold of the doorway for storage or lowered and extended in front of it for use; and with means for biasing the step member into its usable position and other means responsive to vehicle engine vacuum pressure for automatically retracting it into storage.
