  • Patent number: 6416323
Abstract: A self-shielding aspirating dental syringe includes a body having proximal and distal ends and a cavity therein for receiving a medicine cartridge. The distal end has a double-ended needle attached thereto, and the proximal end has a opening for inserting the cartridge into the cavity, and to which a plunger assembly may be attached. A shield is slidable on the body between retracted and extended positions for uncovering and covering the needle, respectively. Cooperating detents and detent pockets are molded on the shield and body for securing the shield in the extended position. A lever is molded on the shield that is pivotable for directing the detents radially outwardly to disengage the detents from the distal detent pockets and allow retraction of the shield from the extended position. A latch is molded on the shield for locking the lever and preventing subsequent retraction of the shield from the extended position.

  • Patent number: 5347440
Abstract: A portable electric lamp has a flat sided body that contains one or more batteries to power a lamp bulb, and an enclosure which has a light-transmitting lens portion, the enclosure housing the lamp bulb. The enclosure is mounted for sliding movement on and with respect to the body. A switch, a battery contact of which is carried by the enclosure, moves with the enclosure, into and out of contact with the battery to energize and de-energize the lamp bulb. In the embodiment described, the body is made up of two cavities, hinged along a long edge. An opposite long edge is provided with tabs on which mounting lugs are provided that fit into channels in the enclosure to permit sliding and to mount the enclosure on the body. The assembled lamp has no protrusions, as distinguished from lamps with switch buttons extending from them.

  • Patent number: 5269719
Abstract: A light show mechanism is provided that includes light brackets which are mounted for rotation on opposite ends of a platform. The light brackets have at least two spaced lamps mounted thereon. The platform rotates about a central axis. As the platform rotates, the light brackets travel in a planetary path. The light brackets rotate on the platform as the platform rotates so that its lights sweep out aesthetically pleasing designs. The rate of rotation of the light brackets can be changed independently of each other to change the design formed by the lights.
