Abstract: A method for measuring a water condition such as temperature or speed proximate a desired location in the water such as near a fishing bait. The method comprises positioning a sensor for the condition near the location which provides a signal proportional to the condition, modulating a high frequency radio signal using the electrical signal, transmitting the modulated signal along a conductive line, detecting the modulated signal and using the detected signal to drive an observable indicator of the condition. The invention also includes an apparatus for practicing the method of the invention. The apparatus includes a sensing means, a modulating means, a transmitting means, a detecting means and a means for converting the detected signal to an observable indication of the condition.

Abstract: An adapter assembly for surface mounting of marine instruments and the like through a constant diameter opening in a marine vessel surface and the like; including a cylindrical mount housing having a tapered annular end; an adapter member having a central frusto-conical opening; an enlarged diameter inwardly tapered end; and an opposite end having a reduced diameter flat annular surface and an outwardly tapered annular surface joining the extremity of the inwardly tapered end.

Abstract: A combined knotmeter, distance/log meter and depth meter including a meter housing, a dial face having indicia symmetrically centered thereabout, an analog speed indicator having a pointer for cooperating with the indicia; upper and lower openings in the dial face in alignment with digital log and depth meters of the electro-mechanical and LCD-type, respectively; the upper opening interrupting the indicia centered about a twelve o'clock position and actuators for the indicators responsive to sensed variables of speed, distance and water depth.

Abstract: A low drag impeller wheel mounted in an enclosure which when installed in the hull of a ship will rotate through the force of water acting upon it, and operate magnetically a pulse generating mechanism that through a current responsive instrument will indicate the speed of the vessel.
