  • Patent number: 10906554
Abstract: An autonomous vehicle driving system includes a control that autonomously controls the vehicle. The control, upon receipt of a destination geographical location, controls the vehicle to travel to the destination geographical location, and wirelessly receives data pertaining to driving conditions relevant to the route being traveled by the vehicle. Responsive to the received driving conditions data, the control determines a geographic location ahead of the vehicle along the route where driving of the vehicle by an occupant of the vehicle is desired. When the vehicle is traveling along the route and toward the determined geographic location and is within a threshold time and/or distance to the determined geographic location, the control informs the occupant of distance to and/or time of travel to the determined geographic location so the occupant is prepared to take over control of the vehicle and drive the vehicle upon the vehicle reaching the determined geographic location.

  • Publication number: 20180361998
Abstract: A vision system of a vehicle includes a camera module configured to be disposed at an exterior portion of a vehicle. The camera module includes a mounting base and a camera that is pivotally mounted at the mounting base. The camera includes an imager and a lens. The camera is pivoted relative to the mounting base between a stowed position and a deployed position. The camera module includes a wiping element that is disposed at the mounting base and configured to wipe the lens when the camera is pivoted between the stowed and deployed positions. A portion of the wiping element is disposed at a lens wiping region and configured to wipe the lens when the camera is pivoted between the stowed and deployed positions. Pivoting the camera between the stowed and deployed positions causes presentation of a clean portion of the wiping element to wipe the lens.

  • Publication number: 20180072270
Abstract: A security system for a vehicle includes a plurality of cameras disposed at the vehicle so as to have respective fields of view exterior of the vehicle. A controller is operable to activate at least one of the cameras and to record image data captured by the activated camera responsive to a triggering event indicative of a potential break-in at the vehicle by an intruder. Responsive to the triggering event, the controller activates at least one of the cameras that has a field of view that encompasses a region where the intruder is determined to be present, and does not activate at least one of the cameras that has a field of view that does not encompass the region where the intruder is determined to be present. The triggering event includes touch or movement of a door handle of the vehicle and/or breakage of a window of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20180072292
Abstract: An automatic braking system of a vehicle includes an auxiliary braking device at at least two wheels of the vehicle. A controller is operable to control the auxiliary braking devices responsive to an input from a brake fluid pressure sensor and an input from a brake pedal position sensor. Responsive to the inputs being indicative of a brake pedal of the vehicle being applied and a brake fluid pressure of brake fluid of a hydraulic brake system of the vehicle being below a threshold level for the degree of application of the brake pedal, the controller determines that there is at least a partial failure of the hydraulic brake system of the vehicle and controls the auxiliary braking devices to slow down the vehicle.
