  • Publication number: 20040126556
Abstract: The present invention relates to a grip element configured for assembly over at least a portion of an article to cushion at least the fingers of a user. The grip element includes a foam comprising (1) a copolymer having repeat units derived from a nitrile-containing monomer and a diene monomer and (2) a plasticizer to plasticize said foam, said foam being essentially free of (1) vinyl chloride and (2) phthalate plasticizers. Said foam is compressible and deformable in response to application of gripping pressure thereto.

  • Patent number: 6361234
Abstract: A pressurized writing device comprising an ink tube having a first end and second end, a writing tip at the first end, an end plug at the second end, a pressurizing system. The pressurizing system applies a force to a writing medium in the ink tube to force the writing medium out the writing tip pressurization system includes, a compressible ink driving member. The compressibility of the ink driving member assures a secure seal of the writing medium in the ink tube. Additionally, the compressibility permits the ink driving member to wipe ink off the interior surface of the ink tube as ink is expended. Ink residue in the ink tube is thus minimized. In a preferred embodiment, the ink driving member is spherical to facilitate manufacture of the ink driving member and assembly of the writing instrument. The spherical shape also enhances the sealing and wiping effects of the compressible ink driving member.

  • Patent number: 5415487
Abstract: The subject invention is directed to a cartridge for a writing instrument. In particular, the writing instrument includes a surface against which the cartridge abuts. The cartridge includes a tubular body for containing ink which has a front end including an applicator for applying the ink, and a plug member disposed at least partially in a rear end of the tubular body of the cartridge. The plug member includes a path for permitting airflow into the tubular body, and a flange for cushioning the cartridge against the abutment surface of the writing instrument so as to inhibit separation of the ink from the ink applicator and absorb pressure exerted upon the ink applicator during writing.
