Patent number: 11892053Abstract: Disclosed herein is a process suitable for constructing a multiple stage air shock. The multiple stage air shock is unique among shocks in that the multiple stage design possesses qualities not available to other shock absorbers. The process includes a means for determining the compressed and extended lengths of the air shock based on the lengths of the parts for each stage. This means refers to one methodology and offers the air shock an extended length that is greater than twice its compressed length, an optimized extended length, and a construction capability based on adding stages. In particular, the extended length-compressed length relationship is a quality inherently unobtainable by current shock absorbers. The process also includes a means of determining the spring rate. This means refers to a second methodology and offers the capability to both set-up the air shock with a relatively linear spring rate and make the relatively linear spring rate more linear.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2022Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Inventor: Ronald Scott Bandy

Publication number: 20240004892Abstract: The system described here includes a unique and versatile evaluation method or process invented by the present author. For the sake of this description we will call any entity capable of performing the process an evaluator. The evaluator is an essential part of the system described here. Sometimes such an evaluator is referred to as a visualizer and the evaluation process is referred to as visualization. This is because the process can be set to enable an evaluator to use available data to synthesize evaluative conclusions that appear to consider a subject, including information about both the subject itself as well as other aspects of this subject's environment to alert evaluator and subject of that which warrants attention.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2023Publication date: January 4, 2024Inventor: Ronald Scott Visscher

Publication number: 20230382478Abstract: A fuel tank mounting system for allowing mounting of a fuel tank to a vehicle during assembly of the vehicle. A movable base moves along tracks on an assembly line and supports a fuel tank adjacent to a vehicle. Movable fastener drivers move to align with corresponding fastener apertures on the vehicle and drive fasteners to attach the fuel tank to the vehicle. Because the fastener drivers are movable, the system may be reconfigured to mount different fuel tanks to different vehicles needing differently aligned and/or differently angled fasteners.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 25, 2022Publication date: November 30, 2023Applicant: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Ronald Scott Friend, Brian McElroy, Robert A Allex, Christopher L Rexroat, David L Brock

Patent number: 11829887Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for performing multi-objective optimizations with a relatively large number of objectives to which optimization is to be performed. The objectives of the optimization problem may be partitioned to two or more subsets (e.g., overlapping or non-overlapping subsets) of objectives, and partial optimization(s) may be performed using a subset or combination of subsets of the objectives. One or more of the partial optimizations may use one or more pareto-optimized chromosomes from a prior partial optimization. A final full optimization may be performed according to all of the objectives of the optimization problem and may use one or more chromosomes of any preceding partial optimization as a starting point for finding a final solution to the optimization problem. Any variety of processes may be employed to mitigate archive explosion that may be associated with relatively large objective sets.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2022Date of Patent: November 28, 2023Assignee: THE AEROSPACE CORPORATIONInventors: Timothy Guy Thompson, Ronald Scott Clifton

Patent number: 11808103Abstract: A swellable packer assembly includes a mandrel, a base pipe disposed within the mandrel, a swellable seal element retained externally on the mandrel, and a shearable member that releasably secures the base pipe to the mandrel. In use, the base pipe forms part of a downhole tubing string in a wellbore. The seal element is swelled with a swelling fluid to seal between an outer wall of the mandrel and a wellbore wall. The shearable member is allowed to shear so that the injection tubing string including the base pipe may move axially within to the wellbore, while the seal element and the mandrel remain stationary relative to wellbore, with the seal element in contact with the wellbore wall. The assembly may help to avoid distortion of and damage to the seal element that may otherwise occur due to thermal expansion and contraction of the downhole tubing string.Type: GrantFiled: January 28, 2021Date of Patent: November 7, 2023Inventors: Ronald Scott Alders, Jeffrey Golinowski, Daniel P Lupien
