  • Publication number: 20190314043
Abstract: A cutting assembly for cutting a tapered cut in a hard material includes a cutting tool and a cutting guide, the cutting tool including a cutting profile shaped to enable the creation of a tapered cut in said hard material, the cutting guide co-operating with the cutting tool and including a distal end which fits a cut profile formed by the cutting tool and a cutting guide opening which guides a secondary cutter introduced therein to complete the tapered cut.

  • Publication number: 20160106445
Abstract: A surgical tool, for use in a ligament repair procedure after rupture of the ligament, the tool comprising; a handle having a first end and a second end, the second end capable of receiving and retaining a cutting guide assembly; the cutting guide including an outer wall which defines an internal, space in which there is located a base; a passage defined by the outer wall and base and which allows access for a cutting implement to bone; and at least one formation extending from the cutting guide which locates the tool against bone during cutting; wherein the bone cutting guide, guides the cutting implement through said passage to enable cutting of a bone section which is separated from surrounding bone.

  • Publication number: 20090149963
Abstract: A modular prosthesis assembly for insertion in bone, the assembly comprising: a tray element having a first surface including an extension member depending therefrom and an opposite second surface; a first adaptor having first and second ends, the first end having a profile part which receives and retains the extension member; a second adaptor comprising, a first end and a second end; the first end engagable with the second end of the first adaptor; a stem having first and second end, the first end including a formation which allows engagement of the stem with the second end of the second adaptor. The second end of said stem has a profile suitable for insertion in bone.

  • Publication number: 20050154470
Abstract: A prosthesis assembly for implantation in a skeletal site; the assembly comprising: a first component (8) for fixation in a bone cavity (9), a second component (7) capable of direct or indirect engagement with the first component; at least one adaptor which engages the first and second components thereby allowing adjustment of the second component from a first disposition of the second component relative to a predetermined reference.

  • Publication number: 20050071015
Abstract: An acetabular prosthesis assembly (1) comprising an acetabular cup (3) with a generally convex outer surface for engaging acetabular bone and a generally concave inner surface, an insert (10) capable of insertion in the cup (3) for receiving a femoral head component, wherein a wear liner (13) is disposed between the cup (3) and the insert (10), the liner (13) providing a wear inhibiting surface (4a).

  • Publication number: 20040236431
Abstract: A universal shaft component capable of insertion as an anchorage in skeletal bone including a proximal humerus, phalange, distal or proximal tibia, distal or proximal femur, or thumb wherein the shaft is insertable axially within an internal bone cavity such that the outer surface of the shaft engages inner walls of said cavity, characterized in that the shaft has a proximal end and a distal end and on said outer surface of said shaft between said ends, at least one thread such that when the shaft is screwed into said bone cavity the at least one thread induces an axial compression force in said bone and distributes that compression force evenly along the bone over the length of the at least one thread.

  • Patent number: 5580352
Abstract: A femoral prosthesis adapted for insertion into the medullary cavity of a femur. The prosthesis including a distal shaft, a neck portion detachable from the distal shaft and a joint head detachable from the neck portion. The distal shaft having two spaced tapered threaded portion thereabout with differing pitch to prevent undesired counter rotation of the prosthesis thereby preventing axial withdrawal of the distal shaft from the femur.
