  • Publication number: 20070162982
Abstract: In a method for providing copy-protection services on a storage medium (for instance a solid state memory module), the data are arranged in sectors to which a field (S4T) is associated, where said field contains a random value Ri which is changed randomly when writing data to said sector. By encrypting the data stored on the medium using a key which depends critically on said random numbers, bit-by-bit copies (apart from said random numbers, which can not be deterministically changed by an application) to a second storage medium or recopies from some intermediate storage medium, can not be decrypted because the values of said random numbers will have changed, thus preventing unauthorized duplication and replay attacks.

  • Publication number: 20060215988
Abstract: A recording system (75) includes a broadcast receiver (210) for receiving broadcast programmes, and a download receiver (280) for requesting and receiving content parts of a broadcast programme from a server (90). A controller (250) determines whether an instruction for recording a broadcast programme would exceed a capacity for recording and playback of programmes during at least part of the corresponding broadcast period. If so, the controller instructs a recorder (290) to record content parts of the broadcast programme during a part of the broadcast period in which the capacity is not exceeded and stores an identification of a content part of the broadcast programme that could not be recorded. It determines a period in which the capacity of the recorder is not exceeded and ensures that the not recorded content parts are downloaded from the server in the determined period and recorded.

  • Publication number: 20060100963
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for recommending content items. A user profile processor (113) determines (201) a user preference profile for a user for different categories of content. When a content item is received (203), a recommender processor (111) determines (205) if a first content item correlates with the user preference profile. If there is such an associative correspondence, the content item is recommended (206) to the user. If not, the recommender processor (111) determines (211) if the received content item comprises at least a first characteristic having an associative correspondence to at least a second characteristic of a second content item having a high user preference. If there is such an associative correspondence, the received content item is recommended to the user. The associative correspondence may be determined to exist if textual descriptions for the two content items comprise similar words.

  • Publication number: 20050117607
Abstract: A method of acquiring repetitively broadcast data comprises acquiring the data in fragments, acquiring a document comprising information on the fragments, examining the information, and re-acquiring the fragments according to the information.

  • Publication number: 20050071724
Abstract: A method, a device and a system of performing error correction of stream data on a data medium using an information file. The stream data can be AVI, MPEG and stream data with file offset. The data medium can be a DVD+RW, a SVCD or a memory. The method includes the steps of determining (100) whether an error exists in the stream data on the basis of the information file and the stream data; determining (200) a file offset of the error in the stream data on the basis of the information file and the stream data; determining (300) the size of erroneous data in the stream data on the basis of the information file and the stream data; and inserting (400) correction data in stream data. Clock references and characteristic points in the information file are used to link to file offsets in the stream data. Erroneous data is replaced by correction data at the file offset with the correct size. Replaced data can also be a flag or it can be decided to replace with dummy data.
