  • Patent number: 5322514
Abstract: An epidural or anesthesia needle assembly having a "wing" selectively attachable to the needle hub is disclosed. The "wing" is made of a sturdy but resilient material. The "wing" has a tang for placing in a corresponding slot in the needle hub to ensure the correct orientation of the "wing" with the bevel tip of the cannula. In addition, the tang allows the "wing" to be pushed along the elongated axis of the cannula with improved efficiency so that the "wing" does not become inadvertently detached from the needle hub. In the preferred embodiment, the "wing" includes a protective sheath mount enclosure shaped in contour to the protective sheath mount located at the most distal end of the needle hub. The protective sheath mount enclosure forms a lock around the protective sheath mount.

  • Patent number: 4895147
Abstract: An improved lancet injector is provided which includes an elongate tubular housing, a penetration depth selector thereon, a moveable lancet guide in the housing and a compressible spring in the housing connected between the lancet guide and one end of the housing. The lancet guide further including a flexible plunger thereon to create a vacuum in one end of the injector after the patient's skin has been pierced to assist in drawing blood from the puncture site by manually moving the lancet guide from a neutral position to a vacuum position.

  • Patent number: 4793363
Abstract: A bone marrow biopsy device is provided that includes a cannula member and a stylet member each having arcuate handles having a length greater than the width thereof, a luer lock connector, and a handle locking arrangement. The cannula member handle has a recess which receives a collar on the stylet member handle. A radial pin and an axially extending luer lock connector are disposed in the recess. The collar has a slot which receives the pin for locking the stylet and cannula members together.

  • Patent number: 4702261
Abstract: A biopsy device is provided that includes a housing and relatively slidable tissue cutting and stylet members, both movable with respect to the housing. The members have actuators for manually moving the members and which are mounted in parallel relation to each other and when the proximal ends are equidistant from the housing, the cutting member covers a tissue receiving cavity in the stylet. The actuators are provided with stops to prevent the distal tip of the cutting member from moving distally beyond the distal tip of the stylet. A hand grip can be releasably attached to the device.
